Step-By-Step Images and Instructions
1.

Start by taking a gray pencil and a ruler, and drawing two straight, parallel lines down the center of your page, around half an inch in width.
2.

Connect the lines at the top with two straight, angled lines that meet at a point, and add a short vertical line to the top of this.
3.

Using the gray pencil, connect the bottom of the candle with a circular shape.
4.

Now, add a wavy line around this base, almost like a puddle.
5.

Make the line at the very bottom of the candle a little thicker and more prominent…
6.

And then gently shade in the rest of the shape here with the gray. Add a thin outline around the front, and leave this space white.
7.

Take a tissue, and carefully smudge the area you just shaded for a soft texture.
8.

Take a red pen and ruler, and draw a series of short diagonal lines across the body of the candle.
9.

Use the red pen to connect alternate lives together, creating sections all up the length of the candle.
10.

Use the red pen to fill in these sections, leaving you with alternating stripes up the body of the candle.
11.

Next, use the red pen to fill in the sidelines in between the solid sections, giving your candle a solid edge.
12.

Next, use a pink pen to fill in the white sections in between the red…
13.

And use a black pen to make the wick at the top bold and prominent.
14.

Take an orange pencil, and use this to add a flame shape to the top of the candle.
15.

Next, use a yellow pencil to add another layer to the flame…
16.

And a gray pencil to gently shade down the inside of the left-hand line, showing that the candle is already melting.
So what are you waiting for – the wax is already on its way. Time to close your eyes, take a deep breath, and make your birthday wish!
