Step-By-Step Images and Instructions
1.
Start with a thin, black pen, and draw a jagged “lightning bolt” shape in the center of your page.
2.
Add a point to the top of this, and then a second, smaller point to the right. Continue the line up to the top right-hand corner of the page.
3.
Turn this line into another point, and then bring the bottom line down and curving across.
4.
Next, add another branch to the right of this, with three sharp prongs on the top and at the ends.
5.
Add another point to the bottom, and then bring the line down towards the bottom of the page.
6.
Now, add another set of branches to the right, splaying out into smaller twigs. Bring a line down from the bottom of this.
7.
Repeat this below with another set of branches, and then curve the line towards the bottom right-hand corner of the page…

And then add two small “bumps” to the bottom, and wave the line across to the left.
9.
Now, return to the top of the tree, and add another set of branches to the left of those at the top.
10.
Repeat this with another set to the left…
11.
And then repeat this with a set of branches soaring out to the left.
12.
Now, add another set to the bottom left of the tree, roughly level with the branches on the right…
13.
And bring a line down to meet the bottom and complete the trunk.
14.
Now, grab a black pen, and use this to fill in the main body of the tree to complete your design.
There we have it – a slightly creepy tree without leaves – it looks as though it could tell a story or two!
