Step-By-Step Images and Instructions
1.

Begin by taking a black fineliner pen, and drawing a curved triangle shape on the left side of your page.
2.

Add two circles, one inside the other, in the top “point” of your triangle.
3.

Next, bring down two parallel lines above and below the circle for a stripe…
4.

And bring a line up from the top, taking a jagged line across to the left, and then smoothing this out as you head down towards the bottom of the page.
5.

Add a triangle “dip”, and then bring the line across to the left, down, and back in, in a square “backward C” shape.
6.

From here, bring the line down, across to the left, and then add a series of jagged points, bringing those at the front down a little further. Connect these to the front of the fish to complete the outline.
7.

Add a series of tall, thin curved shapes all across the body – the one at the back should be curved across the tail.
8.

Now, add a line inside the back section, following the shape of the outer line.
9.

Add two circles, one inside the other, to the top of this…
10.

And then add a small “teardrop” shape to the back section.
11.

Now, add a line to the center of the sections in the body.
12.

Add a curved line to the front, and bring this forward slightly with short curved marks in the “face” area.
13.

Bring a line across from the front of the mouth…
14.

And then use a black pen to add color to the eye, the stripe at the front, the inner circle at the back, and the small shape below this.
15.

Fill in the inner sections and the face with a vibrant yellow pen.
16.

Use a green pen for the tail at the back…
17.

And then shade the remaining area with the brown pen!
Voila – your very own unique, distinctive butterflyfish. If this is your first encounter with these curious creatures, then why not head off and do a little more research? There are a lot of cool things to learn!
