Sleek, graceful, and often associated with the savannah, the antelope is a beautiful animal, often celebrated for its elegance and beauty.
Despite their delicate looks, these are hardy animals, able to reach speeds of up to 43 miles per hour, and equipped with keen senses which allow them to detect and avoid predators from several miles around.
Their tough horns are their main source of protection, and their incredible finesse and speed means that many a hunter goes hungry.
Play your part in celebrating these remarkable creatures, by learning to draw your very own.

Step-By-Step Images and Instructions
1.

Start with a small, curved line, slightly to the left of the center of your page.
2.

At the left hand end of this line, add two small, curved lines heading downwards – think of this as creating an “E” shape, with the top line slightly longer than the others.
3.

At the bottom of the “E”, draw a line straight down and to the left, aiming for around a 45 degree angle.
4.

Add a small circle to the very end of this line.
5.

Next draw a line extending from this bottom circle, all the way out and across to the right. Finish with a flick upwards at the end.
6.

Next, return to the top of the “E” shape, and make a curved line heading upwards, again, at around a 45 degree angle.
7.

Add another line parallel to the first, just to the right. Make sure that the bottom of this second line has a defined curl, heading up and to the right.
8.

From the end of this defined curve, follow the line up and over until you meet the tip at the top – this will be the first horn!
9.

Repeat this with the other line on the other side, so that you end up with two sharp horns.
10.

Next, add a small ear just below and behind the horns – this should be triangular in shape, with the bottom left open.
11.

Return to the bottom of the ear you have just drawn, and add a curved lune heading down, across to the right, and back down, so that the end result looks almost like a step. Add a few “jagged” details to the line at the bottom. Can you see the antelope’s shape starting to emerge?
12.

Move to the top of the “tail” and draw another line down, across to the right and then slightly down once more. You should now have a clear tail, and the back leg of your antelope.
13.

Add a line roughly in line with the top of the tail – this should be jagged and zig-zag, heading downwards.
14.

From the bottom of this zig-zag line, draw a curve downwards to create the back leg, ending in a hoof at the bottom.
15.

Draw another two lines; one from the “zig-zag” you drew earlier, and the other just in front of the back leg.
16.

Add to this second line to complete the other back leg, ending in a hoof at the bottom.
17.

Then return to the other end of the line which makes up the belly, and add a front leg, heading straight down.
18.

Next, add a line, carrying on from the line of the belly, and moving around and up to meet the chin, ending roughly in the center. Add a little jagged texture to this line at the front, to give your antelope a warm, furry chest.
19.

Now it is time for the final leg. Move to the shaggy, jagged detail you just created, and add an “arrow shape” pointing off to the side. Add another, parallel line just inside this to form the shape of the leg, and end with a hoof at the bottom, ensuring that this is flicked up ever so slightly.
20.

Draw the tail of your antelope.
21.

Now for some detail – add a small circle to the cheek of your antelope, around halfway up the face. This will soon be transformed into your antelopes sparkling eye!
22.

Next, add some detail to the horns with small, straight lines running horizontally across the width.
23.

Add some detail by coloring in the hooves and the tips of the ears with a rich, dark brown. Then, add a curved shape in front of the tail, just above the tummy connecting the tops of the legs, and just below the circle on the cheek.
24.

Next add a little color to the rest of your antelope, with a light brown or tan shade on the body. Leave the belly, the middle of the face, and the very edges of the outline white for now.
25.

Now bring your animal to life by creating its eyes. Fill in the circle on the cheek with the same dark brown you used earlier, leaving a tiny white dot just at the top – this will help give the illusion of reflection, and add life to your drawing.
26.

And then add the orangey-brown color to the horns.
27.

Add some shading in the same color to the edges of the belly.
And just like that, you have created your very own stunning antelope drawing! This is a great starting point for a beautiful wildlife landscape, or maybe you will send your antelope on adventures across the savannah? The next steps are totally up to you!
