It is a rivalry as old as time: the game of cat and mouse is one which has endured for generations, and which is very unlikely to change. The image of a cat holding tightly onto its mouse is instantly recognizable, and we will add our drawing to the collection in just a few simple steps.

Step-By-Step Images and Instructions
1.

Start with a black fineliner pen, and add a small upside-down triangle shape just to the right of the center of your page, close to the top.
2.

Now bring two curved lines down from the bottom of this triangle, to create a mouth for the cat.
3.

Add another set of lines, this time pointing down towards the bottom of the page, descending from the bottom of the nose.
4.

Add a wavy line to the bottom of this, moving across, down slightly to a point, and then following parallel at the bottom to create a “cloud” shape.
5.

Add a small “teardrop” shape, with the point heading off towards the right of the page, just inside the left-hand edge.
6.

Just in front of this, add two small dots, creating the eyes of your mouse, and then a small curved line to the right of this, to give your mouse a nose.
7.

Add another “sideways teardrop” shape just below the eyes, and cut this in half with a short diagonal line. Fill in the section on the left, and leave the section on the right white.
8.

Next, add an “egg” shape around the outside of the nose and mouth of the cat…
9.

And two almond shapes above this for your keen cat eyes.
10.

Add a small semicircle inside each of the eyes, and then two small dots inside this. Fill in all of the semicircles, with the exception of the dots.
11.

Add two long, thin shapes above the eyes, both at a slight angle…
12.

And then add two large, triangular ears above this, connected in the center with a slightly curved line.
13.

From the bottom of each ear, bring two curved lines down and across to meet the edge of the mouse.
14.

Add two small triangles inside each of the circles…
15.

And then three long, thin triangle shapes in between each of these, heading down towards the bottom of the page.
16.

Then, add two circles just below the eyes…
17.

Return to the ear of the mouse, and bring down a curved “l” shape, heading down towards the bottom of the page, across slightly, and curling back up.
18.

Now, add a short “L” shape to the bottom of the curve you just made, adding a short line in the center to give your mouse some toes.
19.

Move slightly to the right, and add a short curved shape and a long, thin rectangle at the bottom of this.
20.

Connect the two sides of the mouse’s body together with a short curve…
21.

And add another long, thin shape to the front to give your mouse all four legs.
22.

Now add a long, thin curved tail emerging from the back of the mouse, dividing this into small sections.
23.

Return to the space by the mouse’s front legs, and bring a curved line down, across in a “bumpy” line, and back up, stopping just below the mouses’ legs.
24.

To the left of this, bring down another long, curved line, add another bumpy line to the left, and bring the line back up, this time making it shorter than the first.
25.

To the left of this, add another “paw”, and bring the bottom line up at a 45-degree angle towards the top left-hand corner of the page.
26.

Continue this line-up and curve it across to the right in a circular shape, before bringing it back down to mee the front of this paw.
27.

Add another, similar shape to the right of the first leg you drew…
28.

And bring a curved line up at the back to meet the bottom of the cat’s head.
29.

Then, bring another line up on the right to complete the body of your cat, before adding a long, curved tail emerging from the back of the cat with two parallel lines, joined with a rounded end.
30.

Now, use a curved line to connect the tops of the front legs together.
31.

Add a series of triangle shapes moving along the back of the cat – these are the fierce tiger stripes!
32.

Grab a light gray pen, and add color to the face and back leg of your mouse…
33.

Before using a darker gray pen to fill in the body.
34.

Then, use the same darker gray to add color to the body of your cat, leaving the left leg, front paws, stripes, and face details white for the moment.
35.

Return to the light gray pen, and fill in the front and hip of the cat.
36.

Now, switch to a gray pen, and go back over the main body of the cat.
37.

Use a pink pen to add a tint to the tail and cheek of the mouse…
38.

And then to fill in the cheeks, brows, and ears of the cat.
39.

Finally, grab a black pen, and fill in the nose and stripes to complete your drawing.
And there we have it – your very own cat holding firmly onto a mouse! But will the feline foe reign victorious, or will the mouse make a dramatic getaway? The choice is yours!
