Step-By-Step Images and Instructions
1.

Start by taking a gray pencil and drawing compass, and drawing a large circle, roughly in the center of your page.
2.

Use the gray pencil and a ruler to add a horizontal line across the bottom section of the circle.
3.

Now, use an eraser to remove the section of circle under this line, leaving you with a flat-bottomed shape.
4.

Take the gray pencil and ruler, and bring a line down from the bottom corners, slowly angling in towards one another.
5.

Connect these two lines at the bottom with a straight, horizontal line, then add two more lines descending from the corners, reducing the inwards angle slightly. At the bottom, connect these two new lines with a straight line, this time extending the edges of this out ever so slightly.
6.

Grab the eraser, and remove any lines that are “sticking out”, to leave you with a clean, crisp outline.
7.

Return to the gray pencil and ruler, and add two more lines, parallel with the outside lines, in the middle section.
8.

Use the gray pencil and drawing compass to add a smaller circle in this section, with the bottom half of the circle crossing the tip line of the bottom box.
9.

Use the eraser to remove the lines inside this smaller circle…
10.

And then use the gray pencil to add a small, almond shape in the middle of the circle, split this in half with a short horizontal line.
11.

From the bottom of this “almond” bring down a straight line, dividing this into two curves at the bottom – do you see the nose and mouth beginning to take shape?
12.

At the top of the circle, add two small triangle shapes, giving your cat some cute ears.
13.

Add two small, curved lines just above the nose, and add small marks to the bottom of this for eyelashes.
14.

Next, add two smaller circles below the eyes, giving your cats’ cheeks some color.
15.

Add a few short, horizontal marks to either side of the face for whiskers…
16.

And then three long, thin “triangle” shapes descending from the top of the head.
17.

Add a small “balloon” shape on either side of the bottom of the face for your cats’ front legs…
18.

And then add smaller “points” to the end of this.
19.

Grab an eraser, and remove the lines between the bottom of the face and the top of the legs…
20.

Before going in to redraw the erased parts more neatly.
21.

Use a black fineliner pen to go over all your outlines, leaving you with a clear, defined drawing.
22.

Use the eraser to remove all pencil marks…
23.

And then use a red pen to fill in the top of the balloon, and the basket section.
24.

Add a touch of color to your cats’ cheeks with a pink pen…
25.

And use a gray pen to go over the body.
26.

Finally, use a brown-orange pen for the stripes on top of the cats’ head, and complete your design.
And voila – a peaceful-looking puss is taking in the views from a hot air balloon! Just where will their adventures take them? Well, that is up to you to decide…
