Step-By-Step Images and Instructions
1.

Start with a gray pencil and a drawing compass, and add a large circle to the middle of your page.
2.

Use a gray pencil and drawing compass to add a smaller circle inside the first, to the left of the shape.
3.

Taking the gray pencil, add two small triangles to the top of the circle. Add a “stripe” to the right-hand ear by adding a line just inside the left-hand line.
4.

Now, use a ruler to add a small upside-down triangle in the left half of the smaller circle. Bring two lines up from the top corners, and then add two more lines to the top of these, this time angling them out towards the top corners of the page.
5.

Bring a curved line down from the bottom point of the triangle, angling to the right slightly, and then bring a line across, level with the top of the triangle, curving down at the right side.
6.

Add two sharp lines, on either side of the face to create whiskers.
7.

Just to the right of the bottom curved line, bring another “bump” down towards the bottom left-hand corner of the page. At the end of this, bring two straight, parallel lines down towards the bottom of the page to create a leg.
8.

Add a wide “C” shape to the left of the leg for a paw…
9.

And connect this to the bottom of the face with curved lines.
10.

Add three small dots across the width of this paw.
11.

Bring another “bump” from the right, roughly level with the bottom of the right ear, heading towards the bottom right-hand corner of the page. At the end of this, add another bump, this time curving across to the right, and then straight down.
12.

Add a curved line to the second bump…
13.

And then bring two curved lines down and across to the left, joining them at the end with a curved line to make a tail.
14.

Add another small bump around halfway across the tail.
15.

Return to the right-hand line of the leg, and add another short, slightly curved line just below the top of this.
16.

Use the ruler to add two straight, parallel horizontal lines across the back of the page, extending on either side of the cat’s body.
17.

Using your ruler, add a straight line to the bottom of the tail, and another just above the tail, heading off to the left. Connect the two lines with a curve at the end.
18.

Now, use a light gray pen for the main body of the cat, leaving the patches, ears and bottom of the face white.
19.

Use a brown-orange pen for the patches…
20.

And a red pen to add color to the tongue.
21.

Take a black fineliner pen, and fill in the details of the face more clearly.
22.

Next, use a gray pen to add color to the inside of the ear.
23.

Use a light blue pen to fill in the background…
24.

And a blue pen for the central stripe, and the shape underneath the tail.
25.

Finally, take the black fineliner pen, and go over all the details, giving you crisp, sharp outlines.
And there we have it, an adorable kitty cat licking its paw in contentment – is there a better sight to see?
