We all know that cats are super smart, and have a wide range of skills. These include catching birds, sleeping for long hours, and… reading books? Well, why not!

Step-By-Step Images and Instructions
1.

Start by taking a black pen, and drawing a “W” shape in the center of your page. Angle out the wides of the “W” ever so slightly.
2.

Now, add a curved line just below this on the right, and add a triangular shape to the top of this, flicking the line out at the right end.
3.

Repeat this in reverse on the other side, leaving you with the outline of an open book.
4.

Add two circles below this, and then add two short marks inside each of the circles, creating cute cat paws.
5.

Bring two lines down, one from either end of the top line, and skipping over the paws.
6.

Add two parallel lines in the center to create a spine…
7.

And then connect the lines together with two curved lines at the bottom, creating your book.
8.

Return to the “W” you started with. Bring two curved lines down from either side to meet the top of the book – do you see your cat outline starting to take shape?
9.

Add two small curved shapes to the bottom of the book for feet…
10.

And then add a large, oval shadow using the same gray pen. Leave the feet white for the moment.
11.

Bring two curved lines across to the right, and curve these around and down, stretching to the left. Join them at the end with a curve to create a tail.
12.

Now, add a bumpy “w” shape to the face, just above the spine of the book.
13.

Just above this, add a small triangle, and fill this in.
14.

Then, add a small loop above the triangle, and bring one line across to the left and up at the end, and the other to the right.
15.

Follow these lines up and across to meet in the middle at the top – your cat is wearing glasses!
16.

Add two small dots inside the lenses of the glasses…
17.

And then add a small triangle inside each of the ears.
18.

Next bring three straight lines across from each side of the face to create whiskers.
19.

Grab an orange pencil, and use this to fill in the main cover of the book.
20.

Then, use a brown pencil to add a little extra color to the top.
21.

Use the orange pen to add color to the cheeks of the cat, and triangular sections along the length of the tail.
22.

Now, use a gray pencil to shade the bottom of the tail and the tops of the feet gently.
23.

Add gray to the space underneath the glasses, and above the top of the book…
24.

And then take a black pen to thicken the lines on the glasses.
And just like that, you have taught a cat to read… best to monitor their tastes in case they stumble upon a plan for world domination!
