When you are heading out as a couple, there is no better way to kick back and relax than under a large, sprawling tree. In just a few short steps, we will bring this magical scene to life – let’s get started!
Step-By-Step Images and Instructions
Start by taking a black pen and a ruler, and add a slightly angled horizontal line to the bottom of your page.
Now, take a black fineliner pen and the ruler, and draw two shorter, horizontal, parallel lines to the left of the page.
Use the fineliner pen and the ruler to add another line above and below these…
And then add another two to the bottom.
Use the fineliner and ruler to connect the ends of the lines together with short vertical lines, creating four “blocks”.
Now, add small vertical lines to the gaps between the blocks, and repeat this on both sides…
Now, use the fineliner pen and the ruler to add two sets of parallel, vertical lines to either side of the bottom line, creating legs for the bench.
Now, use the fineliner pen to draw a curved shape above the right of the top of the bench.
Bring a line down from the bottom, curving towards the line at the bottom of the page.
Bring another pointed section across to the left…
And then bring the top line in towards the bottom left-hand corner to form the face of one of the couple.
Now, add a “triangle” shape to the right of this, making sure that the edges are slightly jagged. Bring a line out from the top of the triangle, heading towards the top right-hand corner of the page.
Continue this line up, across and then down to form the head of the second person…
And then continue the line down, adding a “bump” around halfway down the page, and then curving to the line at the bottom – this is the back of the body of the second person.
Now, bring another curved line to the left of this…
And add a “point” to then bring the line back down to the bottom, forming the legs.
Add a small traingle shape beneath the top parallel lines for form the arms.
Now, take the black fineliner, and bring a curved line across to the right, and up towards the top of the page.
To the right of this, add another, shorter curved line…
And then add a pointed “arrow” shape to the top of this.
Return to the curved line on the right, and bring this across and down, creating a point. Then, connect this to the shape above – do you see your tree starting to take shape?
Bring a branch across to the right, with a curved section ending in single lines and strands.
Add a few more lines to the shape at the top to create twigs…
And then bring two parallel lines up from this, angling them towards the top left-hand corner of the page.
At the top of this, bring another branch off to the right, ending in a forked shape.
Add a couple of lines to the end of this for twigs…
And then bring another line up to add another branch, with two short, vertical lines joined with a shorter horizontal line at the top.
Add a series of small lines to add twigs to the top of this…
And then bring another point across on the left side.
Add more lines to this for twigs.
Next, add a long, thin point above these twigs…
And add more fine lines to the end of this branch.
Connect the top parts of the tree together with another long, thin, curved branch, ending in a point.
Add a series of twigs along the side and top of this…
And then add a few more twigs to the top of the branches underneath.
Next, use the black fineliner to add a series of short, curved vertical marks to the thick line at the bottom – this will become the grass.
Grab a black pen, and fill in the shape of the tree, the couple, and the bench.
Use a red pen to add a series of heart-shaped leaves to the ends of the twigs, and floating away to the left.
And just like that, you have brought a romantic scene to life – now, use your imagination to tell the story of the couple you have created!
