Of all the super cute baby animals in the world, ducklings are amongst the most adorable – and they have the added advantage of being super smart! To help celebrate the wonder of these creatures, we will bring them to life in just a few short, simple steps. Let’s get started!
Step-By-Step Images and Instructions
Begin by taking a black pen, and drawing a small “C” shape in the center of your page.
Bring a line out from the left, and angle this up towards the top left-hand corner of the page. At the end of this, add another short curved line.
Then, add a long, thin “carrot” shape to the end of this line…
And connect the bottom point of this to the bottom of the “C” shape.
Add another curved “U” shape to the bottom of this, angling it towards the bottom left-hand corner of the page.
Add another shape inside this first one, and then bring a line down from the top to just above the curve of the “U”.
Add another curved line descending from roughly halfway across the bottom, curving down to the left, and ending with three “bumps”.
Continue this line down and across, curving it to the right, and then back up.
Now, add another line to the top, curving from the top right corner, across to a point, and then downwards in a jagged design.
At the bottom of this, add another curve across, back in, and flicking out at the bottom.
Connect this line to the one at the very bottom with a slightly wavy line to create the outline of your duck. Then, bring another curved line in from just the left of the top corner, curving across towards the center.
Add a wavy line to the face, and draw two small marks emerging from the top of this for eyelashes…
And then add two sets of two short lines emerging from the bottom of the duck’s body.
Draw a large foot at the end of the left set of lines, bringing three long, thin shapes across to the right, and joining them to the lines.
Repeat this on the right to create the second foot…
And then connect the end of the toes to give your duck those classic webbed feet.
Now return to the beak, and add another line inside the top curve.
Grab a light orange pencil, and use this to shade the webbing between the toes, and the top and bottom of the beak.
Use an orange pen for the rest of the beak, and the toes and feet…
And then fill in the tongue with a pink pen.
Finally, grab a yellow pen, and create a bright, vibrant duckling by filling in the rest of the body.
And voila – an instant way to cheer yourself up! Ducklings are associated with spring and new life – why not do a little research to learn more about ducks and their amazing abilities?
