Tall, lanky, and oh-so-curious, few things in the world can be considered as cute as a baby giraffe. If you are looking for an extreme lack of coordination, awkwardness, and all-around cuteness, then you are in the right place! Let’s get started.

Step-By-Step Images and Instructions
1.

Grab a blank sheet of paper and a black pen. Start by drawing two horseshoe shapes, angled at 45 degrees, at the top of your page.
2.

Bring two lines down from the bottom of these, in the gap at the bottom of the horseshoes.
3.

Then, draw a large shape underneath these – this should be circular at the top, and then become slightly wider at the bottom.
4.

Add a curved line just below the center of this new shape…
5.

And then add two “teardrop” shapes to the top, to create those adorable giraffe ears.
6.

Next, use a fineliner to add curved lines just inside each of the ears…
7.

And then add two sets of wavy lines to the center of the face. Add small “comma” shapes to the insides of these.
8.

Give your giraffe some markings with a series of circles across the top of the face…
9.

And then add two small dots below the central line and a semicircle shape below this.
10.

Now, use the black pen to bring two curved lines down from the bottom of the face, both curving toward the right.
11.

From the line on the right, curve the line up in a “bump”, and then back down to the bottom of your page.
12.

Add two short, vertical lines to the left of this…
13.

And then repeat the shape on the left, creating two legs.
14.

Add a horizontal line to connect the two legs together, and then another horizontal line just below the first. Add a short vertical line to the left of this section.
15.

From this line, add another horizontal mark to create a third leg…
16.

And then bring a curve out from the front of the body.
17.

Add a curve to the bottom, and then back up to meet the body, and create a fourth leg.
18.

Give your giraffe some hooves by adding a line just above the bottom of each leg…
19.

And then add a jaunty tail to the back, reaching off to the right!
20.

Cover your giraffe in markings by adding a series of small patches all across the body with your black fineliner pen…
21.

And then add a wavy line from the bottom of the face to the top of the back with your black pen.
22.

Fill in the eyes and brows with a thick black, and add color to the curve of the mouth…
23.

Before using a cheerful orange-yellow shade for the inside of the ears and the bottom of the face.
24.

Grab a brown pen, and use this for the hooves, the top of the tail, the mane, and the horns on top of your giraffes head.
25.

Use a brown pencil to add color to the patches on the body…
26.

And then a bright yellow pen to complete the rest of your giraffe.
And there we have it – your own super cute giraffe calf. Sadly, giraffes in the wild are hunted and need our help – why not do your bit by learning a little more about them, and seeing what you can do to help keep them safe?
