They might seem like the stuff of fantasy, but narwhals are actually fascinating creatures with a long, rich history and plenty of incredible facts to learn.
Step-By-Step Images and Instructions
Begin by taking a black fineliner pen, and draw a wavy line across your page, bringing the line up at the end.
Add a wavy “spike”, and then bring a wavy line down towards the bottom right-hand corner of the page – this creates one fin…
And then add another fin beneath the first. From the left of this, bring a curved line across to the right. Add another fin, this time pointing down, and then continue the line up to the top left corner. Draw another “point”, and then back up to create the jaw and mouth.
Now, add a small shape to the top of the jaw, and then bring a bumpy line up to the top left-hand corner of the page.
Add another line parallel to the first, and join the two with a point. Use the bumps to add small lines, dividing the horn into segments.
Now, add a large circle to the back of the head. Add a small circle inside this, and another dot inside this. Fill in the outer ring to complete the eye.
Bring a curved line across the bottom of the body…
And then add another fin to the left.
Now, grab a cyan pen and add a series of dots across the top of the narwhal, as well as the fins.
Take a light cyan pencil, and add a line to the inside edge of the body.
Use a pink pen to add a tongue to the inside of the mouth…
And then complete the inside of the mouth with a red pen.
Now, use an orange pencil for the left side of the horn…
And a yellow pencil for the rest of the horn.
Add a curved line into the eye with the cyan pen.
And voila – an amazing narwhal has appeared before your very eyes! This is one creature that is well worth researching – they are truly fascinating animals!
