We all know someone who wears their heart on their sleeve, but just what does that look like in practice? Let’s take a closer look!

Step-By-Step Images and Instructions
1.

Start by taking a black fineliner pen, and drawing two small circles in the center of your page. Then, add an “arrow” shape below this to create eyes and a nose.
2.

Inside each of the eyes, add two smaller circles – one at the top, and one at the bottom.
3.

Then, add a curved “horseshoe” shape around each of the eyes, connecting the bottoms of the horseshow with a curved line at the bottom.
4.

Now, add two small semicircles above each of the eyes, and another at a 45-degree angle below the nose.
5.

Add a curved line above the center of the eyes, and then add a “point” to the left and right ends. On the left, continue the line down to create a “c” shape at the bottom.
6.

Bring a curved line up from just above the top of the “c”, heading out towards the right.
7.

Add a small bow to the end of this line with a circle and two curved shapes…
8.

And then continue the curved line below the bow slightly, before bringing it back up and across to the left. Do you see the face and hair of your figure starting to emerge?
9.

Add a large “m” shape below the mouth…
10.

And then add a circular shape from the bottom of the “c” , curving down, across to the right and back up to create the face.
11.

Next, bring out two curved lines from the right of the head, making these slightly jagged. Curve them across and down to join in a point, creating a jaunty ponytail for your figure.
12.

Add a series of small “bumps” to the bottom left strand of the “m”, creating a hand…
13.

And repeat this on the other side for the right hand.
14.

Bring two short, curved lines up from the top of the “m”, and then connect these to the bottom of the face with angled lines, creating a t-shirt.
15.

Bring two curved lines up from the arms to the bottom of the t-shirt…
16.

Add a curved “w” just above this for a collar…
17.

And then add a star to the right-hand side of the “m”.
18.

Bring the edges of the “m” down and in to meet at the bottom in a point, and complete the shape of your love heart.
19.

Now, bring two angled lines down from below the hands, both pointing towards the bottom corners of the page, and connect these at the bottom with a curved line.
20.

Bring two sets of parallel lines down from the bottom of this…
21.

Add two boots to the ends of the legs, with both toes pointing in towards one another.
22.

Add two curved lines to each of the heels…
23.

And then add laces with two sets of curved lines, ending in small circles.
24.

Add another strip to the bottom of the shoes…
25.

And then use a light brown pen to shade the face, legs and arms of the figure.
26.

Use a yellow pen to add color to the hair…
27.

And then use a cyan pen for the heels of the shoes, the dress and the bow in the hair.
28.

Use a pink pen to add dots of color to the cheeks…
29.

And use the same shade for the shoes and the heart.
30.

Grab a black fineliner pen, and fill in the main sections of the eyes, leaving the small circles white.
31.

Add a thicker line to the top of the eyes, and add a few small marks for lashes.
32.

And then fill in the bottoms of the shoes, and the laces on the shoes.
And there we have it – a cute girl with her heart on her sleeve – in this case, literally!
