Step-By-Step Images and Instructions
1.

Start by taking a black fineliner pen, and drawing a small teardrop shape to the left of your page, making sure that the point is heading down towards the bottom of the page.
2.

Add another shape to the left of this at a 90-degree angle, connecting the two points together.
3.

Now, add two small triangles to the bottom of the points to form a bow.
4.

Bring a large circle around from the bottom of the left triangle, up, across and back down to meet the top of the bow on the left.
5.

Now, add a large curved triangle shape in the middle of the circle…
6.

And add another curved line to the top of the original one.
7.

Now, add a series of curved lines in the left half of the shape, joining some of these at the top to form tall, pointed curves.
8.

Repeat this on the right-hand side, following the curve of the triangle. This is the hair of the girl in your drawing.
9.

Add two almond shapes below the hair to create eyes…
10.

And add two small circles inside these.
11.

Then, add two smaller circles to the center of this…
12.

And add a series of small lines to the top to create eyelashes.
13.

Add a “u” shape below the eyes for a cute nose…
14.

And then a short horizontal line below this. Add an “m” to the top of the line, and a wide “u” below to create a mouth.
15.

Now, add a wide “u” shape to the left of the bottom of the face, angled towards the bottom left-hand corner of the page. Then, add a straight line to the end of this “u” shape.
16.

Add another, parallel line below this straight one, and connect the two lines at the right end with a curve.
17.

Now, add two “bumps” to the left-hand end of the line, almost like the twigs on a tree.
18.

Add a “triangle” shape to the top of this, curving up to the bottom of the bow.
19.

Add another line just above the bottom line of this triangle, connecting this to the bottom of the bow. Add another line below this, and then continue a strand of hair downwards to create another line to the left of the triangle.
20.

Return to the curve just below the top of the face, and add another one to the left of this. This time, extend the line towards the bottom right-hand corner of the page.
21.

Add another, parallel line below this…
22.

And then another hand at the end of this, with two “bumps”, just as before.
23.

Now, join the top of these lines with a curve. Bring down two lines from the arms, making thises slightly curved outwards, and connect them at the bottom with a straight line to form a shirt.
24.

Add a stripe to the bottom of this shirt.
25.

Now, bring out two lines from the bottom corners of the shirt, heading down into the bottom corners of the page.
26.

Connect these at the bottom with a wavy line.
27.

Then, add a series of lines heading in from the bottom of this, towards the center.
28.

Add two parallel lines beneath this, both pointing towards the bottom left-hand corner of the page.
29.

At the end of this, add a small bump for the foot…
30.

And then add another “horseshoe” shape to create a shoe for your girl.
31.

Bring another two curved, parallel lines down to the right of these…
32.

And add a wide “u” shape to the bottom for a foot.
33.

Add a shoe, just as before…
34.

And then add a point to the bottom of the face to create the end of the hair on that side.
35.

Add a series of curved lines to add detail to this section of hair…
36.

Start drawing the butterfly! Add a long, thin point to the right of the girl.
37.

From the top of this shape, bring two angled, curved lines up and out, curling them at the ends to create the antennae of the butterfly.
38.

Add two large, curved wings, one on either side of the body…
39.

And fill these with a series of small dots.
40.

Now, add a trail emerging from the bottom of the butterfly, consisting of short, dashed lines. Bring this across to the left, loop it round and back down, then across to the left and up.
41.

Fill in the center of the butterfly with the black…
42.

And then use a pink pen for the dress and bow of the girl.
43.

Use a black pen to add color to her shoes and belt…
44.

And then fill in the hair using a brown pen.
45.

Use a pink pen on the lips to complete the look.
And there we have it, a stunning spring image featuring a girl and a butterfly – we can almost feel the sunshine on our skin!
