With their curious, wrinkled appearance, tortoises are often associated with dinosaurs – and, according to experts, are likely to have coexisted with these prehistoric beings. To help bring them to life in our modern world, we will learn how to draw our very own cute tortoise – let’s get started!
Step-By-Step Images and Instructions
Begin your drawing by taking a black pen, and drawing a large curved line in the center of your page.
Add another curved line below this, and join the two at the sides with a point, creating an almond shape.
Add another curved line below the bottom, and curve the edges to create the edge of the tortoise’s shell.
Add a series of lines across the shell, creating a distinctive pattern.
Add a curved line to the right of the shell, and another mark below this.
Connect these two marks together with a curved line across to the right, down, and back across to the left.
Add a short curved mark below this, and then another curved line emerging from the left of the bump, down and across to the right.
Add a curved line in the center, and then a “horseshoe” shape above this to create an eye.
Now, add another shape inside this, cutting out a small section from the left…
And connect the top line of the head to the top of the shell with a short curved line. Add another curve to the bottom.
Connect the right line to the body with a short line, and then add another of these just below the first, connecting the ends together.
Next, draw two parallel vertical lines below the shell, and join these with a horizontal line at the bottom…
Add two toes to the front…
And then add another leg to the back.
Draw another two cute toes in the front of this leg…
Connect the two legs together with a curved line, and then add another to the front.
Now, add a small pointed tail to the back, underneath the shell.
Use a black pen to fill in the eye…
And then a brown pen for the shell.
Fill in the body with a green pen, leaving the toes and belly white…
And then fill in the belly using a light green pen.
Now, did you ever see such a super cute tortoise? All he needs is a name, an adventure, and maybe some friends – how creative can you be?
