The chance to see a deer in the wild is never something to take for granted; these are beautiful, shy and majestic creatures. Let’s take a moment to celebrate their grace by bringing one to life through the power of art!
Step-By-Step Images and Instructions
Start by taking a black fineliner pen, and drawing a pointed shape in the left of the page – this should be angled towards the top left-hand corner. Underneath this, bring a line across to the left.
Return to the top line, and curve a line up at a 45-degree angle to create another “point”. Bring the line up towards the top of the page.
Add a third “point”, and then bring the line down to create a fourth shape to the right. At the bottom bring the line across, parallel with the one above it, and add another point, this time heading up and crossing over the bottom section.
From this, bring a line across to the left, and then up to curve off into a series of points, just as you did before. These are your deer’s majestic antlers.
Bring a line down from the bottom of the left antler, and curve this out in a “reverse C” to create a nose. Underneath this, bring the line down, curve it in, and then back out towards the bottom of the page.
Bring the line down, across and back up to create the first front leg, and then back down at an angle, creating an inverted “V” shape.
Add another leg to the bottom of the “V”, and bring the line back up and across to the right…
Ending in a third leg…
And then a fourth at the back – this time, angle the top of the leg out slightly. At the end of the leg, bring a line up and across to the right to complete the outline.
Take a black pen, and go over the whole outline with a strong black shade. Fill in the face, the antlers and the front leg.
Next, fill in the rest of the deer with the black pen…
And use a black fineliner pen to add a slight point to the back of the back leg.
And there we are; proof that deer are as stunning in black and white as they are in color. Why not take some time to study these animals? You won’t be disappointed!
