Step-By-Step Images and Instructions
1.

Start with a gray pencil, and draw a long, curved line across your page, flicking up at the end. Then take the line across a little further to the right, and add another curved line to the top of this.
2.

Draw a “V” shape, angled to around 45 degrees, above the first line you drew. Connect the two sides of the “V” at the top with a bumpy line.
3.

Add another bumpy line just below the top, and then add a wavy triangle shape below this.
4.

Now, draw another curved shape on top of the original bumpy line, and then add a series of tall, thin, curved “fingers” to the right of this.
5.

Add a series of small “fingers” inside the curved shape…
6.

And then shade these, the shapes beside them, the top layer, and the curvy triangle with the gray pencil. This will be your first wing.
7.

Add another line emerging from the right of this, and then take it to parallel the line below. Then, add another wavy line to the left, with a “hook” at the end.
8.

Add another bumpy shape to the back…
9.

Now, add another wavy line below the main body, take this to a point, and then add a jagged line back up to form a triangle shape. Then, add another small triangle shape to the end.
10.

Use the gray pencil to shade the bottom section of this second wing, and then add a small mark in the triangle at the end.
11.

Add a little shading to the tail…
12.

And then use the gray pencil to add color to the bottom of the body, and smooth it with a tissue.
13.

Now, use a black pen to add a couple of wavy lines to the bottom of the body and the tail…
14.

And then add a “crescent moon” shape to the front of the face, with a small dot behind for an eye.
15.

Add a beak using an orange pen to create a triangle…
16.

And then shade the rest of the body with the gray pencil.
17.

Now, add a few more feathers to the bottom of the right-wing.
18.

Use the gray pencil to add marks to the inside of the feathers.
And there we have it – a swan in flight! Now, why not take a little time to create some friends for your creature, and think of an adventure to send them on?
