There is plenty to celebrate when it comes to the humble turtle – these are smart, cute creatures with a lot to offer, and so we should take the time to celebrate them by bringing them to life through art – let’s get started!

Step-By-Step Images and Instructions
1.

Begin with a black fineliner, and draw a curved line in the center of your page. Add two “diamond” shapes, one at each end of the curve.
2.

Now, bring down two angled lines from the bottom of this, and then take these in.
3.

Add two diagonal lines inside this, and add a horizontal line between the diamond shapes.
4.

Connect the diagonal lines at the bottom with a horizontal line, and then add another horizontal line to the bottom.
5.

Now, bring angled lines down from both sides, and then take these out slightly, and then down towards the bottom of the page.
6.

Bring the lines in towards the center, curving these slightly to meet at the bottom.
7.

Now, add a curved shape to the right for the first flipper…
8.

And repeat this with a similar shape on the left.
9.

Now, add two smaller flippers to the back, with one on each side.
10.

Add another set of lines inside these back shapes.
11.

Now, divide the back right flipper into smaller geometric shapes.
12.

Repeat this on the other back flipper…
13.

Add a curve to the bottom of the top left flipper, and divide the space above this into smaller shapes.
14.

Divide the section at the end into two parts.
15.

Now, repeat this on the right top flipper…
16.

And once again, divide the end into two parts.
17.

Add a smaller shape inside the main body.
18.

Connect this to the outside with a series of short lines all around the edge.
19.

Now, add two jagged lines down the center of this middle section.
20.

Add short horizontal lines all down the length of this new central section.
21.

Bring horizontal lines across from the central section.
22.

Now, use a black pen to shade the two diamond shapes at the top to create eyes.
23.

Grab a blue pen, and shade the top section between the eyes. Add color to two of the shapes in the front flippers, and one in each of the back flippers. Now, color the central section, and three squares around the outside section.
24.

Use a brown pen for the shape above this on the back flippers, and one at the top of each of the front flippers. Use the same color for the bottom central shape, the two beneath the centerpiece, and the top on either side of the shape at the top.
25.

Use a yellow pen for two more shapes in the back flippers, the spaces on either sides of the head, and the middle central sections on the outside. Then, add the same color to three spaces in the front flippers, and to three sections above the centerpiece.
26.

Grab a gray pen, and add color to a section in each of the back flippers.
27.

Add color to the space beside this with a pink pen, and follow this with the same shade between the red bottom and the blue sides.
28.

Use a dark blue pen for the bottom of each flipper, and a section at the top, as well as the bottom of the neck. Then, add the same color to three sections in the middle.
And there we have it – a cute turtle, just waiting for a friendly face – can you oblige?
