Kangaroo rats can have something of a bad reputation, but in truth these are smart, adorable creatures who are more than worthy of our time and attention! Why not take a look for yourself by bringing your own kangaroo rat to life – we have all the steps you need!
Step-By-Step Images and Instructions
Grab a dark gray pen, and add a short, diagonal line to the left of your page. Add shorter lines below this to make a small triangle.
Bring a line up from the right of this, and take this up to a slight bump, and then across to the right, before bringing this down at the end.
Add an oval shape to the bottom of the bump, and then shade to the left of this.
Add shading around the oval, across the bottom of the line, and two more sections below the oval.
Use a black pen to add a small circle to the right of the original shape, and add a smaller circle inside this – this will be the eye.
Use the dark gray pen to add a large, looping line to the right of the shapes.
Make this line slightly thicker to create the tail…
And then use a dark brown pen to add a curved line from the shape at the front across to the right, add an “n” shape, and then continue the curve to the right. Add a jagged section, and then connect this to the shape above.
Use the same shade to add a slightly jagged circle around the eye.
Use the dark brown pen to shade the rest of the body.
Use the dark brown pen to add another line to the bottom of the body, and bring two curved lines down from the bottom of the “n” shape, taking these to the left for an arm.
Add another arm to the left of the first…
And then use a pink pen to add tiny claws to the bottom of each, and a pink dot on the end of the nose.
Use the same pink shade to add curved feet to the bottom of the body…
And outline these with the light brown pen.
Use the light pink pen to shade the outside of the ears.
Use a black pen to add sharp whiskers to the top and bottom of the nose.
Use a white marker pen to add marks all across the fur…
And then use a light gray pen to add color to the inside of the tail.
Finally, use the white marker pen to add marks to the tail.
And just like that, you have your very own adorable kangaroo rat. Why not do some research to discover more about these creatures? There is plenty to learn and uncover!
