There was once a rumor that dogs and cats could never be the best of friends. As we are about to see, however, this is a theory that has been largely disproven – and we will prove it to you in just a few simple steps!

Step-By-Step Images and Instructions
1.

Start by using a black pen to draw an oval shape, angled at around 45 degrees, to the top right corner of your page.
2.

Add another, smaller shape just inside this one for a nose…
3.

And then bring a curved line up from the top of this, curving up, across, and then back down slightly.
4.

At the end of this, add a large “teardrop” shape to form an ear for your dog.
5.

Now, add a small “bump” to the bottom, of the nose, and then a wide “u” shape to the left of this.
6.

At the end of this line, bring a line down towards the bottom right-hand corner of your page.
7.

Add a long, thin “point” to the right of this, and then continue the line across to the left.
8.

Now, add a “bump” to the top of this, and a larger “bump” above that…
9.

Before adding three small marks to the bottom “bump” – this is your pup’s paw!
10.

Add a long “u” shape to the bottom of the mouth, with a short line in the center for a tongue.
11.

Add a short curved line to the left of this, and then a curved line to the right of the top of the face…
12.

Add another circular shape to the left of this to create the eyes.
13.

Draw a smaller oval inside this one, and fill this in almost completely, leaving just a small white dot to the right. Add a similar shape beside this.
14.

Now for your cat – add two triangle shapes connected by a curved line, to create the top of the cat’s head – this should be just below the dog’s ear.
15.

Add two curved lines and another central line inside these…
16.

And then curve a line down from the left ear towards the right.
17.

Add another curved line to the bottom of this for the side of the body…
18.

And then flick this out to the left at the end, adding a small “loop” to the end of the line.
19.

Follow this “loop” round and back across to create a curly tail.
20.

Now, continue the bottom line across to the right, and add a small “bump” complete with small marks for a paw. Add another bump above this for the leg of the cat.
21.

Bring a line down on the right for the other half of the body, and add another bump to the bottom…
22.

And then add the second front paw to the left of this.
23.

Add three small dots to the space below the dog’s nose.
24.

Now, grab a black fineliner and add a wavy line down the back and tail of your pooch.
25.

Add three stripes to the face of the cat using the black fineliner…
26.

And then add two almond shapes for eyes. Fill these in almost completely, leaving two small dots.
27.

Now, add a small circle in between the eyes for a nose, and add a curved line above a “u” shape for the mouth and tongue.
28.

Add a wavy line down the body, leg and tail of the cat…
29.

And use an orange pen to fill in the patches on the dog.
30.

Now, use a blue pen for the stripes and patches on the cat.
31.

Grab a black pen for your pup’s nose…
32.

And a pink pen for both tongues!
And in just a few short steps, you have recreated one of the best friendships around – that between a dog and his favorite feline friend.
