The lion has an incredible reputation as the king of the jungle – and this amazing reputation is absolutely earned. One of the most majestic aspects of the lion is their mighty roar – and we can bring this to life in just a few short, simple steps.

Step-By-Step Images and Instructions
1.
Grab a thin black pen, and draw a small circle, angled at around 45 degrees, in the left half of your page.
2.
Bring a curved line down from the bottom of this, and then curl this up at the bottom.
3.
Bring a line down to the right of this, and then curve this across to the right.
4.
Now, bring another line down and across to the left, ending in a point as you bring the line back across to the right.
5.
Add a point to the top of this curve…
6.
And a second point to the right of the first.
7.
Now, add a series of small shapes in between the points to create teeth.
8.
Add two more points descending from the bottom of the jaw.
9.
Add a row of smaller teeth in the middle.
10.
Now, add an “arrow” shape to connect the top and bottom jaws.
11.
Draw a curved “m” shape across the center of the round shape, creating a tongue in the mouth.
12.
Bring a jagged line across the bottom of the mouth.
13.
Next, bring a line up, across, and curve it up and across to the top of the nose.
14.
Bring a jagged line up and across to the right, creating several spikes.
15.
Add a short line just above the left angle of the face…
16.
And then draw a “horseshoe” shape to create an ear.
17.
Add a small curve just to the right of the nose for an eye.

Continue the spikes down and across to complete the mane of your lion…

And then bring a curved line down towards the bottom right-hand corner of the page. Add a few short bumps to the bottom to create a paw, and then curve this in and up to the top.

Add another paw to the front of the first one…

Bring a short, horizontal line across to the left…

And then add another paw to the end of this.

Connect the front paw to the bottom of the face…

And add another paw in front of the first.

Now, add two curved lines to the back of the lion, curving up towards the top of the page…

And then add a fluffy tip to the tail.
27.
Grab a ruler, and use this to draw a series of straight lines, of differing lengths, emerging from the mouth for a mighty rule.

Grab a brown pen, and shade the tip of the tail and the lion’s mane.
29.
Use the black pen to add a wavy line across the bottom of the paws…
30.
And then switch to the brown pen for the nose.
31.
Grab a red pen for the tongue inside the mouth…
32.
And then use a black pen to fill in the rest of the inside of the mouth.
33.
Grab an orange pen for the main body of the lion…
34.
And a yellow pen for the teeth in the mouth.
35.
Now, use a pink pen to color inside the ears…

And a light brown pen for the bottom of the paws.
And just like that, you have your very own majestic lion… now is your chance to learn a little more about these wonderful creatures – you won’t be disappointed!
