We all know that dogs are a man’s best friend – and what better way to show them than through a drawing? Read on to get started, and bring your pooch to life.

Step-By-Step Images and Instructions
1.
Begin with a black pen, and draw a small triangle in the right side of your page. Fill this in almost completely, leaving just a small strip on the top right of the triangle.

Add two curved lines descending from the bottom of this, creating a nose and mouth…

And then add a tongue to the bottom with a large “u” shape, divided by a curved line. Connect this to the mouth with curved lines on either side.

Add a few small dots all around the nose…

And then enclose the mouth and tongue in a curved shape, emerging from halfway down the nose.

Now, add two curved lines above the nose, and two “comma” shapes above this for eyebrows.

Bring two curved lines down on either side…

And then add long, curved shapes to create your dog’s flappy ears.

Now, add a series of slightly curved marks to the left of the ear – there should be two next to one another, and a “reverse L” shape below them.

Add a curved line below this – do you see the face of the human starting to appear?

Add some curved lines for brows…

And then draw a “C” shape to the left of the face.

Now, enclose all of the features into a curved shape, creating the outline of the man’s face.

Add a bumpy line to the top of the face to create a head of hair…

And then bring a curved line down towards the bottom of the page.

Next, add two parallel “v” shapes below the dog’s ear, and join these at the right with a bumpy line – this is the hands and arm of your man. Join the lines at the left with a curved line, and then extend the top line a little more to the left.

Add a line coming from the bottom of the dog’s ear, ending just below the arm.

Now, add another hand to the other side of the dog’s body…

And bring a curved line down from the bottom of this, curling it across to the left.

Continue the bottom of the “v” across to the left to complete the man’s arm, and add a small mark to the bottom of this.

Now, add a series of long, thin shapes all down the back of the man’s shirt, and then add a series of small circles to the rest of the shirt.

Draw some heart shapes to the right of your pooch…

And then use a light brown pen to shade the main body of the dog.

Grab an orange pen, and color the face, arms, and hands of the man…

And then use a darker brown pen for the ears and eyebrows of the dog.

Grab an even darker brown pen, and use this to color the man’s hair.
27.
Next, use a blue pen to fill in the main body of the shirt, leaving the shapes white.

With a red pen, shade the heart shapes around the dog, and the dog’s tongue…

And then use a black pen to add color to the inside of his mouth.
And just like that, you have successfully created one of the most important relationships in the world: that between a man and his dog.
