Before the convenience and power of electric lighting, humankind lived by the light of candles, and they remain a part of our lives today. From creating a romantic setting to offering relaxation, let’s take a chance to kick back, relax, and learn to draw your very own melting candle.
Step-By-Step Images and Instructions
Start by taking a black pen, and drawing a large “comma” shape in the center of your page.
Add a longer, horizontal curve across the bottom of this initial line, with the ends curving down, and another, slightly shorter, line below this, with the ends pointing upwards.
Next, add a wavy line below this bottom curve, and follow the line round to meet the curved line at the top – this is the top of your candle.
Bring two wavy, parallel lines down from the bottom of this, heading towards the bottom of your page.
Add another set of shorter lines to the bottom of this, slightly on the outside of the previous lines.
Now, add a large circular shape to the bottom, and fill this in with the black pen.
Add another, larger shape around the first, enclosing the solid shape.
Use the black pen to add a series of short lines and marks around this bottom ring you have created.
Now, use the black pen to add two curved semicircles halfway up the body of the candle, and add a series of marks around the bottom – these are the eyes and eyelashes.
Add a tall “U” shape below these, in the center of the shape…
And use a pink pen to add small circles beneath the eyes.
Take a red pen, and add a small flame to the top of the wick…
Before using an orange pen to go around the outside of this.
Add a third layer using a yellow pen to really bring your flame to life.
Use a pale orange crayon or pencil to fill in the main body of the candle with a light shade.
Next, use a yellow-green pen to add some color to the top of the ring at the bottom.
Grab a green pencil, and use this to add a little more color to the bottom to complete your drawing.
And there we have it – a sleepy candle, on the verge of melting back into wax. Hopefully, you are feeling much calmer, soothed, and more relaxed!
