Of all the creatures that permeate fantasy worlds, mermaids are amongst the most beautiful and mysterious – especially when they are hanging out with their dolphin companions. Are you keen to take a peek into this secret world? Well then follow us quietly, and let’s get started.
Step-By-Step Images and Instructions
Use a black pen and draw three “points” in the left of your page. Add a curved line to the bottom to create a “crown” shape.
Bring a wave line across to the right of this.
Add another wavy line just below this top one, and connect them at the right end with a curled point.
Next, add wavy lines connecting these to the crown shape on the right.
Add a teardrop shape to the bottom of the crown, and then add curved lines down the length of this…
Before adding a curved line to the right.
Inside this shape – the face of your mermaid – add two short curved lines for eyes, and a larger curved line for the mouth.
Add a large “n” shape below the face, taking the left arm of this across to the left.
Add another curved line beneath the first one…
And then connect these at the end with bumps to form the hand of your mermaid.
Add another set of wavy lines to the top to continue the mane of the mermaid’s hair.
Now, connect some of these strands together with curls at the end.
Bring a curved line across from the left of the arm, and take this down to loop up at the bottom.
Continue this line on the other side of the arm, curving down towards the bottom of the page.
Add a wavy “V” shape to the center to create the fin of your dolphin…
And then add a “U” shape to the bottom of the curve at the front. Connect this to the fin with a curved line.
Continue the line on the other side of the fin, narrowing to a point as you go.
Now, add the curved dolphin tail to the end of these lines…
And add a short curved line to the front of the face.
Next, bring a line across from below the fin, across to the right, and add a curved point on the right side of the body.
Add the mermaid’s tail to the end of this curved point…
And then add curved lines to the center of this.
Now, add two curved lines just below the mermaid’s shoulder, just behind the back of the dolphin.
Add bumpy lines across the tail of the mermaid for those distinctive scales.
Now, use a pink pen to shade some of these scales, as well as spots on the cheeks, and sections of the hair.
Grab a gold pen to complete the mermaid’s tail, and the crown on top of the head…
And then use a blue pen for the tip of the mermaid’s tail, more strands of her hair, and the body of the dolphin.
Shade the mermaid’s top with a green pen…
And then use a purple pen to shade the rest of her hair.
And there we have it – a glimpse into a mystical, magical world, and the special relationship between a mermaid and her dolphin. All they need now are names!
