Step-By-Step Images and Instructions
1.

Start by taking a black pen, and then adding an angled “v” shape to the center of your page. Make sure that the right stem is slightly longer than the left.
2.

At the bottom of the right stem, add a “backward C” shape.
3.

Connect this to the top left line with a curve that moves across to the left, and up. This will be the face of one of your characters.
4.

Now, add a curved line from the top left, taking this across to the right, and back down.
5.

Continue this line down towards the bottom of the page, and curve it in to the left at the bottom.
6.

At the bottom, bring the line up to meet the bottom of the face, forming the outline of the hair.
7.

Now, add a horizontal line to the bottom, heading left…
8.

And a wide semicircle shape to the bottom of the face.
9.

Next, add two thicker curves to the top of the face for eyes, and one below this for a mouth.
10.

Next, add two curved lines just above the bottom, and connect these at the right end with a vertical line to create an arm.
11.

Add a series of “bumps” to the end of the arm, creating a hand for your figure.
12.

Now, bring a curve across from the left of the face, curling across to the right and back down.
13.

Divide this into two sections by adding curved lines up to the center, and back across to the face of the first figure. This is the hair of the daughter.
14.

Now, add a curved line to the bottom, with a small “bump” for the chin. End the line just below the bottom of the hair.
15.

Add a “C” shape in the gap for an ear…
16.

And then add two curves in the face for eyes, above a small triangle for the mouth.
17.

Next, add an “m” shape inside the mouth for the tongue…
18.

And bring two curved lines across to the left and down to meet in a point and create a ponytail.
19.

Next, bring two curved, parallel lines down from the left of the daughter’s chin.
20.

At the end of these, add a small crescent moon shape for the hand.
21.

Bring a curved line down from the bottom of the hand to the right, curving up to the bottom of the mother’s arm.
22.

Now, bring another arm across just above the mother’s arm.
23.

Then, add another hand to the end of this.
24.

Connect the bottom of the body to the bottom of the daughter’s face with a curved line…
25.

And then add a collar to the bottom of the face with two curved sections.
26.

Now, bring a long, thin loop down from the gap in the collar, and add small dots for buttons.
27.

Add a heart shape between the mother and daughter…
28.

And then use a brown pen to fill in the hair on both figures, as well as the space inside the daughter’s mouth.
29.

Use a red pen to fill in the heart and the tongue.
30.

Grab a yellow pen for the mother’s top…
31.

And fill in the daughter’s top with a green pen.
32.

Use a blue pen for the collar and buttons of the daughter’s shirt…
33.

And then use a light brown or peach pencil to shade in the face and hands of both figures.
And just like that, you have captured one of the most important relationships – that of a mother hugging and embracing her daughter.
