Step-By-Step Images and Instructions
Start with a black pen, and draw a curved “kidney” shape in the top of the page. This will be the helmet of your figure.
Add a curved line to the front of this, and take this across and up, making the line thicker as you go for the face and the chin strap.
Add three circles to the bottom of the helmet…
Add a thicker black line to the bottom of the helmet…
And then add two dots for the eyes, a backward “L” shape for the nose, and a mark at the bottom for the mouth.
Bring a line straight down from the back of the helmet, and then add a line to the right beside the chin strap.
Add two curved, parallel lines to the bottom of this…
And then add a loop to either side.
Add a line to the right, and then take this down at a right angle. Reflect this on the left, and bring the line down a little further on this side.
Take the end of this line across to the bottom left-hand corner of the page, and then take this across to the right, and up to the line above. Add another curve just above the bottom line for the sleeve.
Bring two parallel lines down from the bottom of this, and then angle the lines down to meet in a curve at the bottom to create an arm.
Add the side of the other sleeve to the right…
And then bring a line down, and across to the left. Add a curve to the top, and then connect this to the bottom of the sleeve.
Grab a ruler, and add two parallel, diagonal lines across the page, and add a curved oar to the top of this.
Add another curved shape to the bottom of these lines…
Bring curved lines down at the sides for the edges of the body.
Bring the left line across towards the right at the bottom, and then add a shorter line above this.
Add an arrow shape to the end of this, and then add a small square to the bottom right of this.
Add a curved rectangle shape to the right of the “arrow”…
And then add a curved line below.
Now, add a long, thin triangle shape to the right, and a curved version of this to the left.
Next, use a wavy line to connect the point on the right to the oar on the left.
Add a curved line below this…
And then another wavy shape all around the outside of the canoe.
Add some water droplets to the top right of the puddle.
Add a vertical line down the center of the body…
And then two sets of horizontal lines across the bottom of the jacket.
Now, use an orange pen to shade the life jacket and the helmet…
And a red pen for the top and bottom of the oar.
Use a black pen to shade the main stick of the oar…
Use the same red pen for the small section at the bottom of the body.
Use a brown pen to shade the stripes on the jacket…
And then use a light peach pencil for the arms and face of the canoer.
Grab a black pen for the chin strap, and the bottom of the jacket…
And then use a rich blue pen for the top of the canoe.
Use a light blue pen to shade the space beneath this…
And then a lighter blue pen for the surrounding area.
Finally, use a light pink pencil for the shirt of the canoer.
And voila – your very own adventurous canoer, on his way to adventure – but what will he find on his journey? That part is up to you!
