With its bright red design, loud, powerful siren, and distinctive shape, the fire truck is a recognizable sight for almost everyone. They play a crucial role in society, and so we must give them the respect they are owed. With no further ado, read on to learn how to bring a simple fire truck to life!
Step-By-Step Images and Instructions
Start with a yellow pen and a ruler, and draw two parallel lines just to the left of the centerline. End these around an inch from the bottom of the page.
Using the same yellow pen and ruler, add a series of small, horizontal lines connecting both of these lines, creating a ladder.
Switch to a red pen, and use the ruler to draw a horizontal line just below the top of the ladder, extending out towards the right. To the left of the ladder, add a large “box” shape, but keep the top corners unconnected for the moment, and extend the line in the bottom left corner out a little towards the left. Then, add a vertical line below this corner – once again, leave a small gap.
Grab a black pen, and use the ruler to add another horizontal line, this time just above the bottom of the ladder, bisecting the bottom of the vertical line you just drew.
Now, repeat this line just below the first, giving you two long, parallel lines. Connect the ends with a short, straight line.
Grab the red pen, and connect the corners in the “box” with soft curved lines, and then add another vertical line to the left of the right-hand side. Next, use a white correction fluid or white watercolor to erase the black pen marks for the wheels.
Take a black pen and drawing compass, and add two circles in the spaces you just created.
Using the black pen and drawing compass, add another circle immediately outside the first, and then a larger circle outside of these, creating the wheels.
Use a black pen to fill in the “ring” on the outside of the wheels.
Grab a red pen and a ruler, and draw a line heading upwards from the back of the truck, and connect this to the red horizontal line at the top with a curve.
Use the yellow pen and drawing compass to draw three circles towards the left of the main body of the truck – these should get smaller as they move inwards.
Use an orange pen to fill in the central circle, and outline the middle ring of the circles.
Before using a yellow pen to fill in the rest of the circles.
Now, use the orange pen to make a slight mark to the bottom right of the circle.
Beneath this mark, use a black pen to add a horizontal rectangle shape, and fill this in. Then, add two parallel shapes, heading in at an angle, and connect these at the bottom with a straight line.
Use the black pen to fill in the shape you just created.
Next, use an orange pen to add a “ball” to the top of the shape, and fill this in.
Grab the red pen and ruler, and draw a long, thin horizontal rectangle in the middle of the body of the truck, leaving gaps for the circle you created.
Take a red pencil, and use this to fill in the main body of the truck and achieve that distinctive fire engine red.
Next, use the red pen to outline the gaps between the rungs of the ladder…
And then fill in these spaces with the red shade.
Use a cyan highlighter pen to fill in the right-hand section of the front of the truck…
And then use the same cyan pen and a ruler to draw a diagonal line from corner to corner.
Fill in the top half of this with a cyan highlighter pen…
And use a blue pen to fill in the remaining triangle.
Keep hold of the blue pen as you fill in the circle in the center of the wheels.
Take a black liner, and create a very small rectangle at the top of the front of the truck.
Using a red pen and a ruler, draw a short line heading up from the left-hand corner of this, at roughly a 45-degree angle.
Use the brown pen and a ruler to mirror this on the other edge, and add another short brown line in the middle.
Continue with the brown pen to connect the center and right lines, and then a red pen to join the left and center lines.
Using the red pen, fill in the left-hand half of this shape…
And use a brown pen for the other half.
Now take an orange pen, and add a small rectangle to the front to create a lamp for your fire truck.
Use a blue pen and a ruler to add a thick blue line to the back of the truck, emerging just inside the top right-hand corner.
Using a cyan pen and a ruler, add two parallel lines emerging from this, both heading towards the top left-hand corner at a 45-degree angle. Join the ends of these with a short line to create a rectangle.
Now use the blue pen and ruler to add two more lines emerging from this shape, just slightly narrower than the cyan ones.
Use the cyan highlighter pen to connect the ends with a line, and then turn this into a small, solid rectangle.
Use a black pen to add a series of circles inside this shape…
And connect the end to the truck with a black line.
Use the cyan highlighter pen to fill in the bottom…
Before taking a blue pen to complete the design.
