Giraffes are known for their smarts, their social skills, and their super cute faces – and this is exactly what we will focus on in this easy-to-follow tutorial; so let’s take those first steps!
Step-By-Step Images and Instructions
Use a black pen to add a large oval shape in the center of your page.
Add a large half-circle shape to the top of this…
And then add two sets of short lines to the top of this, with a short circle at the top of each for the horns.
Use a slightly thicker black pen to add curves to the top sections of the face.
Add small oval shapes to the top section…
Add a large “teardrop” shape to either side of the head for ears, with another, smaller shape inside the first.
Add two small circles to the bottom section, and then another oval shape above each of these. Follow this with a curve in the center of the bottom section.
Bring two curved, parallel lines down from the bottom of the face…
And add a series of ovals and shapes down the length of the neck.
Use a brown pen to shade the patterns, the top of the horns, and the top of the nostrils.
Use a pink pen for the nostrils…
And a light pink pencil for the bottom of the nose and the inside of the ears.
Now, use an orange pen for the rest of the head and neck.
And voila – a giraffes head up close for you to enjoy! Learning to draw these creatures is just the beginning; why not take some time to learn more about all they have to offer?
