Step-By-Step Images and Instructions
1.

Grab a pencil and a ruler, and draw a horizontal line across the bottom of your page at a slight angle.
2.

Add another, slightly shorter line just above this, and then add a circle to the right with a drawing compass.
3.

Add another circle to the left of this to create a pair, and then add two more pairs to the left with your drawing compass.
4.

Add a larger circle to the end, and then another, smaller circle to the left.
5.

Add another, smaller circle inside each of these.
6.

Now, use a black pen and a ruler to go over the lines between the smaller circles.
7.

Use the black pen and ruler to add two sets of vertical, parallel lines from in between each pair of circles.
8.

Connect the lines at the top with a horizontal line to create three rectangles.
9.

Bring the lines across slightly at the edges, and bring two sets of parallel lines up in the center, and another at the end.
10.

Connect these lines at the top to create three rectangles.
11.

Use the black pen and ruler to add two small squares to the inside of each of the larger shapes – these are the carriages.
12.

Bring a line up from the large circle at the front – the front wheel of your train – and then take a horizontal line across, with the edges overlapping. Bring a line down on the left, and then a horizontal line across.
13.

Leave a gap, bring a vertical line down from the side of the one you have just drawn, and connect the small wheel in front to the larger wheel behind.
14.

Use two small, horizontal, parallel lines to connect the carriages to one another, and to the cabin at the front of the train.
15.

Join the corner at the front of the train with a curved line, and then add a triangle to the front of the cabin.
16.

Bring two short, parallel, vertical lines up from the top of the cabin…
17.

And then add a smaller rectangle to the top of this.
18.

Bring two small half circle shapes across to the right of this shape.
19.

Now, add a plume of smoke emerging from the engine, and add other small clouds just behind this.
20.

Grab a pencil and drawing compass, and add a small circle above the second carriage.
21.

And then go over this with the black pen.
22.

Add two small ovals inside this, with smaller rings to create a set of eyes.
23.

Add a curved smile to the bottom…
24.

And then triangles around the edge for the sun.
25.

Use an eraser to remove all the remaining pencil marks…
26.

Use a gray pen to shade the plume of smoke at the front.
27.

Use a yellow pen for the windows on the front and back carriages, and the top of the front carriage. Add the same shade to the wheels on the back, the bumps and chimney in the cabin and the center of the sun.
28.

Use an orange pen to shade the wheels on the front carriage and the main body of the back cabin, as well as the outside of the sun…
29.

And then use a green pen for the front of the train, the outside of the wheels on the back carriage, and the top of this section.
30.

Grab a red pen, and shade the main body of the second carriage and the wheels on the front.
31.

Use a light blue pen for the center of the wheels on the front and middle sections, as well as the windows on the second carriage. Then, use a darker blue pen for the top of the second carriage and the outside of the wheels, as well as the main body of the front carriage.
32.

Finally, use a light green pen for the outside of the wheels on the front carriage.
And there we have it – your very own super simple train. All that remains is to give her a name!
