Koalas are super cute, no matter what they are doing – and this is especially true when they are sleeping! Why not take a look for yourself by drawing your own adorable sleeping koala – now, let’s all stay very quiet!
Step-By-Step Images and Instructions
Start with a black pen, and draw a small “egg” shape at the top of your page.
Add a long, thin shape to the right of this…
And shade the area around this long, thin shape. This will be the nose of your koala bear.
Add a curve to either side, with small lines underneath for lashes.
Use a black fineliner pen to add small circles to the sides of each of the eyes…
Switch back to the first pen, and add a curved shape around the eyes and nose.
Now, add curved brows above the eyes…
And two “loops” to the top of the head.
Use the black fineliner to add curved ears to the side of the head, with a small “bump” on each.
Use the thicker black pen to replicate this shape on the outside…
Now, use the black pen to bring a long loop down on the right for the leg.
Bring a line across from this, and take this up and then back across to the bottom of the face.
Add another looping leg below this shape – your koala is relaxing on a tree branch!
Bring a curved point across to the left.
Now, bring a curve across from the right ear, and take this down to a bump at the bottom, back up, and across to meet the right leg.
Bring a curved line across from behind the back leg, and then take this down and across to the left, continuing after the back leg to form the outline of the log.
Add a small “m” shape to the top of the back…
And then add small marks to the bottom of the paws.
Next, add a series of wavy lines across the log to create texture.
Switch to a black fineliner, and add two sets of pointed leaves to the end of the log.
Use a pink pen to shade the spots of color on the cheeks and the inside of the ears.
Use a gray pen to shade the rest of your koala’s body…
And then use a green pen for the top of each set of leaves.
Use a dark green pen for the other leaf on the bunch…
And then use a brown pen for the log.
Now, everybody stay quiet – it looks like our super cute friend is doing his best to take a nap; it’s time to leave him alone.
