Of all the monkeys on the planet, the spider monkey is often voted as a favorite amongst fans – and when we bring our own to life through the power of art, it will be easy to see why! Are you ready to get started?
Step-By-Step Images and Instructions
Start with a thin black pen, and draw a curved line in the left of your page. Use two jagged lines below this to create a “V” shape.
Add a wide “m” shape just below the top, and then connect the sides of this with another bump at the bottom.
Draw two small circles inside the “m” for eyes…
And then add two smaller circles inside these larger ones.
Add a short, vertical line between the eyes, and add curved brows to the top.
Add a small triangle shape to the bottom of the vertical line, with tiny dots inside this…
And draw a curved line below this, with a wavy line in the bottom section.
Now, draw two “loop” shaped ears, one on either side of the head.
Bring a jagged line down from the left of the face, and take this across to the right…
Before adding two parallel lines heading to the bottom left-hand corner.
Add another, slightly jagged line inside these two.
Now, add a hand to the end of these lines, pointing towards the bottom left-hand corner of the page.
Bring a line across from the right ear…
And then add two more parallel lines to the right of the first arm, leaving a gap in the top of the right line.
Take these lines towards the bottom left corner…
And add another hand to the end, just as you did before.
Take the right line across to the right, and add a wavy line to the top of this.
Now, add two more angled, parallel lines to the right of this, and take the top of the right line up and across towards the top of the page.
Add a foot to the end of this, pointing towards the left…
And then add another slightly angled leg behind this one.
Add a foot to the bottom of this leg…
And then bring a line up the center of this back leg.
Now, add two curved, parallel lines, taking these across, up, and then looping back down to join in a point – this is the tail of your spider monkey.
Use the black pen to add a series of small marks all across the body for textured fur…
And then use the black pen to shade the whole top section, including the tail.
Use a pink pen for the bottom of the nose and the center of the eyes…
And then a gray pencil for the bottom of the body and the legs.
And there we have it – your very own spider monkey to learn about and explore; but where will your education start?
