Step-By-Step Images and Instructions
1.

Use a black pen and ruler to draw a vertical line on the right side of your page.
2.

Bring lines across at the top and bottom, and join these with a wavy vertical line. Fill this in with the black pen.
3.

Now, bring two sharp, jagged lines across to the left, meeting at a point at the end. Shade this with the black pen.
4.

Use an orange pen to add a small, thin “flame” shape around halfway up this branch.

From this, take a curved line across and up towards the top left-hand corner of your page.

Take this to a point, then bring a bumpy line down at a diagonal to end in a small circle at the bottom. Take the line down, and then across to meet the branch below. Fill this in with the orange pen, and add small white marks all across the back.

Now, bring a curved, spiral tail up from the back, and add points to the top of this for the texture of the tail and fur.

Use the black pen to add a line to the top and bottom of the section on the right…

And then connect these to the rest of the branch, filling them in to form part of the wider shape.
10.

Use a gray pen to add shadow to the bottom of the tail and tummy of the squirrel, and then add a curved shape to the left, with three “points” at the top.

Grab a dark brown pen, and add a tall “V” shape, with the tops joined, to the end of this gray shape. Fill this in for the nose of the squirrel.

Add a small “egg” shape to the top of this, leaving a small white dot at the top…

And then use an orange pen to add a “teardrop” shape around this eye, and shade this in.
14.

Use an orange pen to bring a line up from the top of the nose, across to the left, and add a “tuft” of fur”. Then, add a pointed ear to the top, and join this to the gray below. Shade this section, and add small white dots above the nose.

Color the shape inside the ear with a gray pen.

Add another ear to the left with a black pen…

And then grab a dark brown pen.

Add curves to the sides of the legs…

And then add a small, curved acorn to the front of the paw. use the orange pen to add the stalk.
20.

Use this same orange pen to add a series of twigs across the top and bottom of the branch.

Use the orange pen to add bumpy leaves to some of the twigs…
22.

And then use a purple pen to add leaves to the rest of the leaves.
And there we have it – a happy squirrel perched high in his favorite place, ready to enjoy his acorn in perfect peace and quiet – what could be better than that?
