Sunflowers are known for their bright, cheerful color, and they are guaranteed to put a smile on the face of anyone who sees them. Feeling the need to smile? Then let’s create our very own sunflower in just a few short, simple steps!

1.
Grab a pencil and drawing compass, and draw two circles at the top of your page.

Add a petal shape to the four points of the outside circle.

Follow this with more pointed petals around the edge of these…

And then fill in others all around the head of the sunflower.

Next, add another layer of petals around the outside of the existing petals.
6.
Bring two wavy lines down from the bottom of the sunflower head, and join these together at the bottom for the stem.

Add a curved, long shape to the bottom of the stem…

And then bring curved lines across on either side of the stem.

Add a leaf to the outside of each of these lines…

And then add smaller, forked leaves for veins.

Grab a black fineliner, and go over the outlines of your sunflower.

Grab an eraser, and remove the pencil marks from your drawing.
13.
Now, use a yellow pen to shade the inner ring of petals on the head of the sunflower.
14.
Use an orange pen to shade the outer rings of the petals.
15.
Next, use a brown pen for the center of the sunflower, and the dirt at the bottom.
16.
Finally, grab a green pen, and shade the stem, and leaves to complete your sunflower.
Now we don’t know about you, but that has definitely put a smile on ourfacese, no matter how gloomy the weather!
