With wide-open spaces, acres of sky above you, and the natural world everywhere you look, camping can be a perfect chance to get away from the stress of everyday life, and take some time to enjoy the great outdoors.
Of course, there are a few essentials you need to make sure you have on hand: a sturdy, robust tent, and a campfire for those all-important marshmallows! In just a few short steps, we will bring these essentials to life…
Step-By-Step Images and Instructions
Start with a cyan pen, and draw a “crescent moon” shape just to the right of the center of your page. Fill in this shape with the cyan shade.
Switch to a gray pen, and add a curved line above this shape. At the bottom of this, add another curved line, moving out past the edges of both shapes.
Fill in the second shape using the gray pen…
And then use the same shade to bring down two lines, both at an angle, from the curved line you just drew. Then, add two parallel lines descending from the bottom of the “crescent moon” shape, heading towards the bottom of the page.
On the right-hand side, use a blue pen to add a shape with a curved bottom, two lines coming upwards, and joined at the top with another curved line.
Add an “L” shape to the bottom of this, and fill in the “L” with the blue pen.
Then, add three small marks above the “L” shape, and a horizontal line above this, with a small line heading down. Above this, make another horizontal line, and add another short line to the left-hand edge of this.
Use the cyan pen to fill in the remainder of the shape.
Use the cyan pen to add lines to the left hand side of your drawing, creating a “triangle” shape with curved lines and edges. Fill in the shape with the cyan.
Now use a line to connect the bottom right-hand corner of this triangle to the other shape you drew earlier, using a horizontal line.
Now, add an “archway” shape to the center of your tent, and add a circle inside this. Then, add a triangle shape inside the circle.
Use the cyan shade to fill in the spaces on either side of the triangle, filling the remainder of the circle.
Now grab a light green pen, and use this to add color to the rest of the front of the tent – leave that triangle white for the moment.
Go over the central section with a slightly darker green, creating a “two tone” effect.
Use the blue pen to fill in the central triangular section of the tent…
And then grab a green pen, and create a “spiky” shape in front of the tent – this will form the basis of your campfire.
With a gray pen, add five “teardrop” shapes in a semi-circular pattern, just to the left of the green spiky shape.
Use a black pen to add smaller teardrop shapes in between the gray ones.
Now, use an orange pen to add a large flame to the top of this black and gray combination – this is your campfire!
With a light orange pen, add another flame just behind the first…
And then use a yellow pen to add a third flame to the top.
Return to the orange pen, and add small sparks flying from the top of the fire, and into the air.
Now use a gray pencil to add a long, thin shape to the top of the tent, underneath the cyan section.
Use the same shade to carefully add a slightly “spiky” outline to the bottom of the tent and the backpack beside it. Fill this shape in with the gray.
Add the same shadowy outline around the bottom of the fire, and once again, fill this in with the gray.
Now add a wavy line around halfway up your page, running behind the fire and the tent.
Carefully shade in everything below this line with the gray.
Finally, add a gray shadow underneath the grass section at the front, and once again, shade this in.
And there we have it – your very own campfire, just waiting for the ghost stories lurking in the depths of your imagination…
