How to Draw a Three-Headed Dog

In Greek mythology, stories emerged of fearsome creatures; women with snakes for hair, terrifying ogres – and, of course, three-headed dogs. Ever wondered what one of these would look like “in the flesh”? Well, let’s do our best to find out!

Step-By-Step Images and Instructions

1.

Grab a black pen, and draw a curved line on the left side of your page. Add a small triangle to the right end of this.

At the left end of the line, curve the line down and back across to the right.

Add a small black spot to the end – this will be the nose of one of your dog’s heads.

Bring the line down and then back across to the left, before taking it down to the bottom right-hand corner of the page.

Add the second triangle in front of the first for an ear…

And then extend the line at the bottom of this down to the right-hand corner of the page.

Join the two angled lines at the bottom with a long, thin “stripe”.

Now, bring a line across from the top right corner of this, and wave this towards the right and slightly down.

Bring the line to a point, and then continue it across to the left.

Now, add a long, thin “teardrop” shape just in front of the nose.

From the left of this “teardrop” shape, add a line across to the left, down, in to the right, and looping back down to form the outline of the second head.

Add a line to the right of the ear, and bring this across, up in a “point”, and right to just below the jaw of the first head.

Add a series of small shapes descending from the mouth of the first head, down across the length of the second neck.

Now, add two small lines on either side of these to create a collar.

Bring a line down from the left of the first collar, heading towards the bottom left-hand corner of the page…

And add another small point to the bottom of this.

Bring a line down from the bottom of this, and loop this across, up, and back down…

Now, add a small oval inside each face, with a small dot in each to create three eyes,

Connect the second head to the others with a short, curved line from the bottom of the collar…

And then add a line from the bottom of the collar of the bottom head – bring this across to the right, and then down.
