1.

Grab a ruler and pencil, and add two lines to the center of your page – these should be close at the top and get wider as they come down the page.
2.

Add a wavy line just above the bottom, and bring the edges of these in towards the center line.
3.

Use a drawing pencil to add a series of small circles all up the main stalk.
4.

Add small pointed shapes to the top of each of these for the stalks of the tomatoes…
5.

Add a curved line to the top of the central stalk, and add a leaf shape to the side of this.
6.

Repeat this on the left…
7.

And add another leaf just below the one on the top right.
8.

Follow this with another leaf and stalk on the left…
9.

And add another to the bottom on the right.
10.

Repeat this on the left…
11.

And connect each tomato to the stalk with two curved lines.
12.

Use a black fineliner to go over each of the outlines.
13.

Use an eraser to remove any remaining pencil marks…
14.

And tidy up, making sure all the edges are crisp, clear, and sharp.
15.

Use a green pen to add color to the leaves and stalks of the tomato.
16.

Use a red pen for the tomatoes themselves…
17.

And then a brown pen for the section of dirt at the bottom.
And just like that, you have your own baby tomato plant, waiting to grow – why not take some time to try planting your very own tomato in your own backyard? This is an easy way to enjoy nature, and always have access to fresh food!
