There are two magical things that always seem to go together: unicorns and rainbows. Want to create a stunning fantasy scene for yourself? Then we have everything you need – let’s get started!
Step-By-Step Images and Instructions
Start by grabbing a purple pencil, and drawing a large “loop” in the left of your page.
At the bottom of the “loop”, bring another curved line across to the left and up. Leave a gap, then add a short, curved line.
Now, add a horn to the space at the top of the shapes, and add short, diagonal lines all down the length of this.
Add a forelock of hair all around this with a series of slightly bumpy lines.
Bring a mane out to the back with two parallel, jagged lines ending in a point at the right end.
Next, add two dots to the curve at the bottom, and add a small curved line behind this for the nostrils and mouth of the unicorn.
Add two triangles, one on either side of the horn, and then add smaller triangle shapes inside each of these.
Now, bring a curved line down underneath the chin, and take this towards the bottom left-hand corner of the page. Take another curved line across to the right, add another parallel line above this, and then add a short curved line just below this top one. This will be one of your unicorn’s hooves.
Add another leg and hoof to the right of the first…
And then add a curved line to the right and a larger curved line just behind this.
Add another hoof to this back leg…
And then connect this to the end of the mane with a curved line.
Now, bring another bumpy shape out from the top of the back to create the tail – aim this towards the top right-hand corner of the page.
Add another leg and hoof below the one at the back…
And shade the hooves with the purple pen, leaving a small square in the center of each.
Now, shade the horn the same shade, and carefully shade the squares on the hooves lightly, leaving small “slits” on the front hooves.
Grab a pink pen, and use this to shade the tail, mane, and inside of the mouth, as well as the tops of the nostrils.
Use the black pen to add two eyes to the face…
And then add smaller rings inside these, with long, curved lashes at the top.
Now, use a pink pen to add a series of spots and dots all across the belly and back of the unicorn.
Use a pink pencil to shade the bottom, legs, face, and neck of your unicorn very lightly.
Now, use a red pen to add a series of stars around the top and bottom…
And then bring two curved, parallel lines across below the bottom of the unicorn. Join these at the end with wavy lines.
Shade in this shape with the pink pen…
And then repeat this shape above the first using a purple pen.
Use the purple pen to add more stars around the top and bottom…
And then add another stripe to the top of the rainbow with a green pen.
Follow this with a stripe made by a khaki-shaded pen…
And then use an orange pen for another stripe above this.
Grab the green pen, and add to the array of stars.
And voila – your very own adorable unicorn, leaping over a rainbow. The adventures to be enjoyed are all up to you – where will she go first?
