When it comes to fantasy creatures, many people will vote for one of two creatures as their favorite: a unicorn, or a mermaid. But what happens if you combine these two creatures, and add the features of a cat? Well, there’s only one way to find out!

Step-By-Step Images and Instructions
1.

Begin by taking a brown pen, and drawing a tall cone shape in the center of your page. Add a series of short lines at slight angles across the width of this to create your unicorn horn.
2.

Bring a line out from the left-hand side of the horn, curving across to the left, and then waving down towards the bottom left-hand corner of the page. Flick this up at the end.
3.

From this flick, bring the line back down, and curve it across to the right, angling up towards the top right-hand side of the page.
4.

From here, bring the ling down sharply to another point, and then flick this back up at an angle.
5.

Now, bring another line down from the right-hand side of the unicorn horn, waving down towards the bottom of the page.
6.

Add a wavy line underneath the horn, with a point in the center.
7.

Bring two short marks down from just below the point, and then long lines down on each side.
8.

Connect the two halves with two angled lines, meeting at the bottom in a point.
9.

Then, bring a line down from the left-hand side, and curve this down to meet the line at the bottom, and then across to the right and back up.
10.

Bring another curved line down from the right, and flick both lines across to the right, before splitting in opposite directions and curving upwards.
11.

Add two “teardrop” shapes, one to the end of each line, to form your mermaid tail.
12.

Add two small marks inside each of the fins of the tail…
13.

And then a series of bumpy lines all along the length of the tail – every mermaid needs scales!
14.

Bring a line across from just above the curve of the tail, across to meet the left fin.
15.

Next, add two curved lines to the face, just below the pointed line, or hair.
16.

Add a small heart shape just below this…
17.

And then bring two curved lines down, spreading out in opposite directions.
18.

Add two straight lines to either side, creating cat’s whiskers.
19.

Next, add two sets of three small “bumps”, both sets facing one another, just below the whiskers.
20.

Take a gray pencil, and add a star just above the top left of the creature.
21.

And outline this more clearly with a brown pen.
22.

Take an eraser, and use this to remove the lines inside the star, leaving you with a crisp, clear outline.
23.

Next, use the brown pen to draw a series of curved lines emerging from the left of the star, curving round to meet in a point.
24.

Now add a series of wavy lines inside the hair…
25.

And then add two “arrow” shapes – one smaller inside the larger – to the left of the head.
26.

Grab a yellow pen to fill in the star…
27.

And then add a blue to the bottom section of the tail.
28.

Use a pink pen to complete the shooting star…
29.

And a pink pencil to add a blush to the cheeks.
30.

Using the pink pencil, give your creature a magnificent mane of bright magenta hair.
31.

Use a green pencil to fill in the tail…
32.

And then an orange pen for the bottom segment of the horn.
33.

Use a yellow pen for the section above this…
34.

And a green pen for the third “section”.
35.

The next one should be filled in with a blue pen…
36.

And use a purple pen to complete the horn, and finish your design.
And just like that, you have created something brand new: a unicorn-mermaid-cat creature. Is it friendly or fearsome? Adventurous or apprehensive? Time to let your imagination run wild!
