Whales are known for their beauty, their intelligence, and their incredible ability to conquer the water – and we are about to show them off to their full glory in just a few short steps. Let’s get started!

Step-By-Step Images and Instructions
1.
Start with a cyan pen, and draw a wavy line, broken in the center, across the right side of your page.
2.
Take the right end to a point, and bring the line down and across to the left.
3.
Add a curved triangle shape to the bottom…

And then a small oval shape to the top, just ahead of the break.

Add a cloud shape to the end of the bottom line. Fill in the fin with the cyan pen.
6.
Add another cloud shape to the left of this…
7.
And then add a streak of color above this with the cyan pen.

Add a line down the center of the top fin, and shade the right side a little more.
9.
Next, color the rest of the body of the whale with the cyan pen.
10.
Add a curved line to the top, on either side of the top fin.

Fill this section with curved lines using the cyan pen.
12.
Add another cloud shape to the right of the original one, this time adding a point to the end.
13.
Add a large puddle shape around the bottom of this…

And fill this shape in with the cyan pen.
15.
Now, add small drops of water all around the top of the body, and the belly of the whale, and add another fin to the top of the belly, shading this in with the cyan pen.

Use a sky blue pen to shade the belly of the whale.

Use a black fineliner pen to shade the detail of the eye…

And then use a dark blue pen for a line at the bottom of the wave.
19.
Use the same blue for the top of the fin and the edge of the belly.
20.
Grab a dark blue or gray pen, and add oval shapes across the top and fin of your whale.
21.
Use the cyan pen to add shading to the center section, right below the blue line.
22.
And then outline the eye with the blue pen.
23.
Grab a gray pencil to add a line to the whale’s belly.
And there we have it – a beautiful whale enjoying the freedom of the ocean and frolicking in the waves – looks like a pretty great day to us!
