1.

How to draw an abstract house step 1

Take a gray pencil and a ruler, and draw a simple, clean rectangle at the bottom of your page, roughly in the center.

2.

Use the same tools to create a perfect triangle directly above this – these are the body and roof of your house.

3.

Add another, smaller rectangle inside the first – try and get this as central as possible.

4.

Now, use the ruler to draw two parallel lines in the very center of this smaller rectangle, effectively cutting it in half.

5.

Use the tools to create another set of parallel lines, moving horizontally across the center of the rectangle – you will end up with a cross shape – this is your window!

Now, add a line going from just above the bottom left hand corner, and angling upwards at around 45 degrees. Follow this with another line right beside it, creating a strip.

7.

Repeat this process on the top of the window, this time angling the line down from left to right.

8.

Add another “strip” vertically down the house – begin just inside the triangle of the roof, and carry the line down to the left of the window, and to the bottom of the house.

Once again, repeat this process on the other side, angling on the other way to create a “mirror image”.

Now create another strip, from around halfway down the right hand side of the roof, heading down to the left hand side of the house.

Once again, repeat this on the other side, in a rough “mirror image”.

Now, grab the yellow pen, and use this to fill in the sections on the outside right and left of the house – in the middle – as well as the very bottom of the roof, where your bisecting lines will have made a small triangle shape.

13.

Use the orange pen to add color to the bottom right hand side , in the section at the very bottom. Then, add the same orange to the tiny triangle on the left of the yellow section on the right hand side, and the side of the roof on the left hand side.

14.

Take a red pen, and fill in the section in the bottom left hand corner, the section above the tiny orange triangle, the very left hand corner of the roof, and the very top of the roof.

15.

With a green pen, color the very right hand corner of the roof, the space below the yellow triangle in the roof, and the triangle on the right hand side between the yellow and orange sections.

16.

Use a cyan pen to add the shade to the roof (between the two red sections), the top right hand corner of the house, and the central section at the bottom of the house.

Then, grab a violet pen, and fill in the remaining sections – leave the area with the window empty for now.

Use a black pen to fill in the section around the window…

And then grab an eraser to remove the pencil lines, leaving you with clean, neat spaces between the sections.

And in a few short steps, you have crafted your very own colorful, abstract house to enjoy – why not create a neighborhood packed with different colors and designs?

As the saying goes, a man’s home is his castle, but how much do you actually know about the place you live in? Houses have a range of curious design features and perceived flaws which could actually work in your favor, whether by increasing the value of your property, keeping you safer, or even improving your health.

Did you know, for example, that brass doorknobs could actually be keeping you and your family healthier? Brass doorknobs have the incredible ability to disinfect themselves in around eight hours, thanks to the metal ions found in brass and copper – these are toxic to mold, viruses and living things. If you are trying to choose between a brass option and a cheaper alternative, opting for the former could actually stop you from getting sick.

In a similar vein, many homeowners have concerns about the holes which appear in the brickwork, and agonize over whether or not their foundations are damaged, and their house is about to collapse – but this is far from the case.

These holes are actually integral elements of your overall structure, and allow the home to “breathe.” The hole creates an air gap, and this functions as a rain screen -any moisture which manages to sneak behind the brick will drain away to the bottom of the wall, and out through these holes – rather than having a chance to build up and cause damp and mold. So there is no need to worry – your house is taking care of you and itself with these and other seemingly small tips and tricks – the castle is secure!
