How to Draw an Apple Cut in Half step 1

Start with a black pen, and draw a short line, at around a 45 degree angle, roughly in the center of your page.

From the bottom left hand corner of this line, add another line, springing up and out away from the first – almost like the whiskers of a cat!

Connect the two lines together at the end with a very small circle – this is the stalk of your apple.

Next, create the main shape of your apple with two large, semicircle shapes connected at the top and bottom.

Add a small, narrow oval shape in the center of the main apple – these are the all-important pips in the core.

Add a few tiny teardrop shapes around this main oval shape, for more detail and to add more pips to your apple.

Move to the bottom left hand side of the apple shape, and bring a slightly wavy line down, across, and back up around the side of the apple shape, to meet the top right hand edge. Then, add another wavy line to connect the two halves at the top – remember to skip over the stalk.

Switch to a gray pencil, and gently add a long, thin oval shape to the bottom of the apple. Fill this in with gentle tonal shading to add a shadow beneath your apple. You can also add a slight gray tinge to the bottom of the curved line.

Grab a black pen, and thicken the gray element of the curved line ever so slightly – this does not have to be super neat.

Now for some color; use a red pencil to fill in the main body of the outside of your apple for a delicious, rich finish.

Take a brown pencil, and add color to the stalk at the top of the apple, and the pips in the core.
