Elephants are super smart creatures, and have a range of talents – including flying? Well, why not take a look for yourself in just a few short, simple steps – let’s get started!

Step-By-Step Images and Instructions
1.

Grab a thick black pen, and draw a “backward C” shape just to the left of center. Add a curved line to the top of this.
2.

Now, bring a wavy line down from the bottom of this…
3.

And then add two curved, parallel lines for the trunk, curving this across and up.
4.

Add two curves to the top of the trunk.
5.

Now, add an almond-shaped eye to the right of the trunk, and add small marks for lashes to the top of this. Add an arch to the top of this for brows.
6.

Add a second eye to the left of the first…
7.

And then add a bump to the left of the head for the other ear.
8.

Now, draw an “n” shape to the right of the ear, and add a small squiggle to the top left of this.
9.

Bring a curved line down from the bottom of the face, and then add a square “u” shape to the bottom. Next, add curved lines below this to create the front leg of the elephant.
10.

Add a curved line to the right, and then add the shape of another leg and foot to the end, slightly lower down.
11.

Add another leg to the back, this time pointing towards the bottom right-hand corner of the page.
12.

Add a curved line to the top, and then add a point to the top of this to create a tail. Connect this to the top of the ear with a curved line, adding a slight point to the top.
13.

Now, add a curved line emerging from the back, and add a large “loop” to the top of this. Then, add a series of bumps to the bottom to create a large wing.
14.

Add another shape inside this larger one…
15.

Add a foot to the front, behind the one that you have already drawn, and point this towards the bottom right corner of the page.
16.

Add another, smaller wing to the left, this time pointing to the top left-hand corner of the page.
17.

Then, add another, smaller shape inside this.
18.

Now, add small circles inside the eyes…
19.

And add a series of small marks across the trunk and the front leg.
20.

Next, grab a yellow pen, and add small, curved toes to the bottom of each foot.
21.

Shade the space around and above these with the yellow, and apply this to the body, the trunk, the ear, and the left of the face.
22.

Add color to the mouth and the tip of the trunk with an orange pen…
23.

And then shade the rest of the face with the yellow pen.
24.

Grab a light gray pen, and use this to gently shade the wings.
25.

Now, use a dark gray pen to add light areas of shading and patches across the body.
And voila – whoever said that elephants were not capable of flight has been very much proven wrong – and you have the drawing to convince them!
