Step-By-Step Images and Instructions
1.

Begin with a black pen, and draw two parallel, diagonal lines pointing towards the top right-hand corner of your page. End these with a fork at the top.
2.

Continue the line of the bottom fork down to a “V”, and then bring it back up to a point, and back down on the right to create a branch.
3.

Below this, bring another point across to the right, and add a series of spikes and points along the length of it.
4.

Add another branch below this one, adding a wavy, slightly jagged line to the bottom…
5.

And then follow this up with several long, thin lines to create twigs for your tree.
6.

Add two curved, jagged shapes below this twig…
7.

And then add another pointed, forked branch immediately below this.
8.

Return to the top, and add another forked twig to the left of the original one.
9.

Now, add another sharp, pointed branch to the left of this.
10.

Add a small point, and then another tall, sharp branch.
11.

Add another forked set of branches to the left…
12.

And follow this with a tall, curved branch, slightly forked at the top.
13.

Now, add two more sets of forked branches arching across to the right and down. At the bottom, bring the line up in a small “loop”.
14.

Add three more branches to the left of this loop, all forking out to the left of the page.
15.

At the bottom of this section, bring a curved line down towards the bottom of the page.
16.

Add wide, arching roots to the bottom of your tree…
17.

And then use a black fineliner pen to add a series of long, wavy shapes all across the surface.
18.

Fill these sections in with an orange pen…
19.

And then use a dark brown pen for the remainder of the trunk and branches.
And just like that, you have a majestic oak tree reaching up to the stars – can you imagine the stories that this old tree could tell?
