1.

Grab a black pen, and draw an angled, thin triangle shape on the right of your page. Make the top of this a little bumpy.
2.

Add a long, curved shape to the top of this, ending in a point on the left side.
3.

Add a series of small “horseshoe” shapes inside this top section.
4.

Now, add a bubble arrow to the bottom of this, pointing towards the bottom of the page.
5.

Add a tall shape, made up of long, thin ovals, with a circle at the top.
6.

Add two small ovals inside each layer, with one circle on each end.
7.

Add three sets of legs to the top of the body…
8.

And add a curved arrow to the left of this.
9.

Add an oval shape to the left of this, and add three small marks to the bottom of this.
10.

Add curved lines down the length of this shape…
11.

Add a series of small circles in the center of these lines.
12.

Now, add a curved shape to the right of this, and add two small circles.
13.

Add a small half-circle to the right, and then add two small dots in these.
14.

Add another curved arrow above this, pointing up towards the top left-hand corner of the page…
15.

And then add a circle to the top, with three small marks on the top and the bottom.
16.

Add a half circle to the top right, and add two smaller circles inside this, with a dot in each. Add two curved lines to the top of the head.
17.

Add a line down the center of the body…
18.

And then add an arrow to the top of this.
19.

Add a circle to the right of the arrow, and divide this into two.
20.

Add another half circle to the top, complete with smaller eyes. Bring two curved lines up from the top of the head, and add small circles to the ends for antennae.
21.

Add small circles to the main body…
22.

Add an arrow between this and the first shape…
23.

And then use a yellow pen to shade the shapes inside this first shape.
24.

Use a green pen to shade the outside of this shape.
25.

Now, use a black pen to shade the top of the body of the next creature, and shade the center of this.
26.

Use a brown pen for the rest of this small creature, and then for the circles on the left.
27.

Use a brown pencil for the second shape on this creature…
28.

And then an orange pen for the section beside this.
29.

Now, use a black pen to shade the head of the creature in the next stage.
30.

And use a yellow pen for the body.
31.

Use a black pen for the heads on the left and top insects, and the spots on the top insect.
32.

Use a red pen for the shell on the top ladybug.
33.

Now, add the labels – from the top heading to the right: “ADULT LADYBUG”, “EGGS”, “LARVAE”, “PUPA”, “YOUNG LADYBUG”.
And voila – your very own ladybug life cycle – these creatures are truly fascinating, and there is always something new to learn and discover about them!
