The water cycle is an essential part of our life on planet Earth and having a good understanding of it allows us to really appreciate how fortunate we truly are – and we have all you need to know to create your own diagram; let’s get started!

Step-By-Step Images and Instructions
1.

Start with a black pen and a ruler, and draw a three-sided box in the bottom right corner of your page.
2.

Add a wavy line across the top of this, and then an angled, wavy line across the bottom.
3.

Bring another wavy line across above that at the bottom…
4.

And then fill the top sections with small wavy lines.
5.

Now, add another three-sided box to the left.
6.

Add a wavy line to the top of this…
7.

And fill with other small wavy lines.
8.

Next, add a cloud to the space at the top of this, and add small jagged lines to the bottom.
9.

Draw a circle shape to the left of the cloud…
10.

And add a spiky shape around this for the outline of the sun.
11.

Now, use the black pen to add wavy arrows heading from the bottom section up to the cloud.
12.

Add another cloud to the top of this…
13.

And then a group of three clouds to the right of this one.
14.

Add another cloud to the right side, with a wavy line at the bottom of these.
15.

Add small star shapes emerging from the bottom of this.
16.

Add raindrops to the sides of the stars…
17.

Use a red pen to draw arrows connecting each stage of the cycle.
18.

Use a blue pen for the clouds, and the water in each section.
19.

Now, use a brown pencil for the section of sediment in the first stage you drew.
20.

Use a brown pen for the bottom of this section…
21.

Use an orange color for the inside of the sun…
22.

And then use a brighter yellow for the outside of the sun.
23.

Now, use a darker blue pen for the rest of the clouds.
24.

Shade the rain with a light blue pen…
25.

And then label each stage – “CONDENSATION”, “PRECIPITATION RAIN AND SNOW”, “WATER”, “EVAPORATION”, and “CLOUDS FORM”.
And there we have it – your very own diagram of the water cycle, and, in many ways, the secret to life on Earth itself.
