While fancy foods and gourmet meals may be a wonderful treat, there is one foodstuff which is often held in esteem above all others – hot buttered bread. Feeling peckish? Let’s learn how to create our very own bread and butter through the power of drawing!

Step-By-Step Images and Instructions
1.
Begin with an orange pencil and a ruler and draw a line to the left of the center of your page. Add slight curves to the top and bottom of this line.

At the bottom of this, add a straight line extending up towards the top right-hand side of the page.
3.
Use a yellow pencil and a ruler to create a cuboid shape, with the bottom left-hand corner joining the end of the orange line.

Return to the orange pencil and add an arch to the top of the curve you drew at the beginning, joining the end of this to the top of the cuboid. Use a curved line to soften the corner and create the top of the bread.

Fill in the shape on the left-hand side with the orange pen.

Then, use the orange pen to add a series of marks to the surface of the bread.

Grab a brown pencil, and create two sets of eyes, and two mouths – one set on the bread, and the other on the butter.

Use the brown pen to add a mark to the left-hand side of the break, and a wide “tick” shape on the right-hand side of the butter.

Use the orange pen to add hands to the end of your arms.

With a pale orange pencil, add shading to the surface of the bread…

And add a darker shade to the bottom of the slice.

Use the yellow pencil to add curves to the top of the butter.

Then, fill in everything outside these curved sections with the yellow pencil.
14.
Take the yellow pencil and use a light hand to fill in the curved areas.
15.
Grab a brown pencil and add two sets of legs to the bottom of the shapes by making short, vertical lines.
16.
Finally, use an orange pen to add two small feet to the bottom of the legs!
