The human digestive system is a hugely important part of the body, and learning all about it will give you a better understanding of your own health and wellbeing. In just a few short steps, we will learn how to draw and label the parts – let’s get started!

Step-By-Step Images and Instructions
1.

Start by taking a black fineliner pen and drawing a wavy shape in the top right corner of the page – this should be wider at the left, and come to a point as it moves to the right.
2.

Now, draw a curved “balloon” shape to the left of this, curving across and up.
3.

Draw a series of small, connected oval shapes below this, creating a chain…
4.

And repeat this with another row of ovals below the first. Connect these at the left with a curved line.
5.

Add another curved line to the top of the first chain. Them, bring two curved, parallel lines across and up to meet the bottom of the balloon shape.
6.

Now, use two sets of lines to create a “fork” above this curved section, connecting the original wavy shape and the balloon.
7.

Next, draw a curved line, angled at around 45 degrees, to the left of this group. Take the line to a point on the left, and curve this across and up to meet the other side. Add short, curved lines heading into the middle.
8.

Add a similar, smaller shape to the right of this, and add another wavy line along the bottom.
9.

Connect the bottom right of the first shape to the balloon with two curved, parallel lines…
10.

And then connect the two shapes together with a curve at the top and the bottom.
11.

Add a large oval shape to the gap at the bottom of the left shape, and add another, smaller circle shape to the bottom of this. Connect this to the bottom of the balloon.
12.

Now, add another curved shape to the bottom chain, and bring down two curved, parallel lines from the bottom of this. Take these, down, across to the left, and then curl them back round at the bottom.
13.

Connect the right of this to the bottom chain with another “j” shaped chain…
14.

And then add another example of this to the right,
15.

Now, draw a wavy “V” shape at the bottom.
16.

Bring another set of chains down on the left…
17.

And then another to the right of this.
18.

Join these at the bottom with a wavy “V” shape.
19.

Now, add another set of curved lines to connect this right chain to the central wavy section, add a curve behind this, and connect these to the top with two more parallel lines.
20.

Add a “horseshoe” shape to the right, at the bottom…
21.

And then another one of these in the top right corner of the loops.
22.

Add another set of curved lines to the right side…
23.

And then use a red pen for the curved sections at the top.
24.

Grab a green pen for the area below this…
25.

And a yellow pen for the wavy section you started with.
26.

Shade the rest of the shapes with a bright pink pen.
27.

Now, use a black pen to add a series of circles all around the shapes.
28.

Number these from top to bottom, and use the ruler to connect these to the drawing with long, straight lines.
29.

Add a numbered list, with 1-19, on the left of your page…
30.

And then fill in the names of the parts:
- Liver
- Gallbladder
- Duodenum
- Right Colic Flexure
- Duodeno Jejunal Junction
- Ascending Colon
- Ileocecal Junction
- Ileum
- Cecum
- Appendix
- Stomach
- Pancreas
- Left Colic Flexure
- Transverse Colon
- Jejunum
- Descending Colon
- Sigmoid Colon
- Rectum
- Anal Canal
And there we have it – a detailed diagram that tells you everything you need to know about the human digestive system. Fascinating stuff!
